Places Directory from Google Labs

Just read about this a little while ago and downloaded from Market. this is a really slick app, although I did have to turn GPS on as the triangulation method of location determination isn't the best. I found a number of interesting things near my house I had no idea were there.

The funny part is the iPhone users whining about wanting it.

Yeah the app is very well done, can't wait til more googlers use their 20% time on android

yeah the places app is nice.. downloaded it earlier since i gotta redo all my apps.. google has some good stuff coming out for android... keep ya eyes open

Looks like Google is about to make Yelp redundant.

Not so sure about that, but at least Wolfram|Alpha is not.

It's a shame that Yelp et al didn't make clients for every platform (iPhone, Android, J2ME, etc) -- they probably could have prevented this.
