    Default PDAnet and donut

Hi, I'm trying to install PDAnet on my g1. I have the latest firmware 1.6 Donut. When I try and install PDAnet it hangs at the last step "Installing PDAnet to your phone" I've tried installing in vista and xp. I have usb debug enabled. Is it because of donut that PDAnet wont install?

    Thanks

You may have to wait for them to update the app. It might not be compatible with 1.6. Try contacting the publisher of the app to see if there is a compatibility problem.

I'm having the same problem I think - "Fail to open device" comes up at the stage when it's trying to install pdanet to the phone. I tried installing the APK directly on the phone, but that didn't work either.

So I'm having the same installation issues... My G1 already had PDANet installed, and even after the 1.6 update, PDANet is functioning just fine.

My wife's G1 is the issue. She never had PDANet and I cannot get the app installed on the phone. It sees the device, loads the driver and hangs at "Installing to phone" during the app install. I'm guessing T-Mobile made sure to block the app... at least make it difficult to install. I've played with every possible combo and cannot get passed the installer. Any help is appreciated.

I've just now installed PdaNet on my Donut-installed G1, and I had the same problem. Went over to the PdaNet FAQ and found this...

    ------------------------------------------
Installation stuck at "Installing PdaNet to your phone..." and never continue.
Unplug the USB cable so that the installation get aborted. Then reboot your Android phone and reinstall PdaNet.

    (from http://www.junefabrics.com/android/faq.php)

Worked perfectly...just be patient with the "Installing PdaNet to your phone..." section. It DOES take a few minutes. Enjoy!

I did try rebooting as they suggested (well power off/on anyway) but that didn't help. DocHoss, how did you reboot? Did you power off/on or did you use one of the other methods? I'd really like to get this app installed....

WOO HOO!!! I went back to the PdaNet site to make sure I hadn't missed anything. It looks like they released an update (ver 1.17) sometime today, and it installed and works like a champ. I'm on the connection right now testing and it seems to be working very well.
