Multi-Touch... When And How Would It Be Incorperated Into The G1?

From everything I have heard - the G1 does not support multi-touch in ANY way. I know for a FACT the Android API still supports it.

I've seen two different videos with two people close to the issue that said two different things.

One said it was infact and IP limitation and the other said it was hardware.

It should be noted that both the G1 and the iPhone use a capacitive screen although the iphone's has a specific layout enabling multi-touch... it is unclear weather the G1 has a similar system...

It is also worth noting that the HTC TouchPro/Diamond were recently revealed to have hidden multi-touch sensing capabilities although these appear to be only on the front panel and not the screen.

I guess time will tell.

No, it doesn't. As it currently stands there is no API whatsoever to handle multitouch events.

The G1 is >NOT< capable of Multi-touch... it is a serious concern for the hardware itself. HOWEVER, the Google Android API >has< the multi-touch option to it... so any manufacturer can easily integrate it.

It will be impossible for any developer to integrate a multi-touch application on the G1... sorry.

Well I think your wrong about that, the G1 is using Synaptics Clearpad so it is capable of multi-touch.

So it got more to do with Apple, the reason why Google didn't include the multi-touch API.
