Messaging issue Handcent and native messaging

Are fighting each other. I had an FC issue with the calendar so I flashed the newest ROM onto my Eris. Worked great

I reinstalled Handcent

However now whenever I get a text i get it from both the native messaging app and Handcent.

Do I uninstall the native messaging app? I didnt have to before I flashed the new ROM. It is a little annoying to have to clear two messages every time I get a text

You can't. What happened here is you forgot to read the instructions that were displayed when you installed Handcent. The relevant bit is where it say to disable notification in the standard Messaging app. To do this, start the Messaging app, then Menu -> Settings -> Notification (turn this off).
