Default MemoryUp App Install -Bad or not?

Hi all,

I am trying to decide if I should install the MemoryUp application on my Android phone. But I read conflicting reviews of it. There are reports that suggest it wipes out all data on the phone when installed. So is the app legit or not?

Have many users had problems with the app? I am not considering if the app actually does what it claims but more worried about about the potential rogue implications of it.

Thanks!

I wouldn't download it just because there has been more than just people posting it, there has been postings on this site and others as well. I would just stay away from it.

I had it on my phone for quite some time w/o any problems, but after reading some of those negative comments i deleted it off my phone. It worked fine for me but i didnt wanna take any chances. So i just have memor for lemmings now..

honestly you do not need to download either. The G1 does what these apps both do automatically.

You don't need it, because it doesn't do anything that it claims (the g1 handles memory on its own), so don't download it if you are worried it will mess up your phone.

And if you want to free up some RAM on your phone, and make it run faster, ROOT your phone, then download task manager from the marketplace, to kill running apps and processes.

Default MemoryUp App Pulled from Android Market?

I can't find the app anymore. So I am thinking they pulled it off the store based on all the reviews. Can anyone else still find it through their phone?

Hi

Don't you already have a thread started on this very topic...

I think the other topic was on the quality of the application rather than the availability thereof. While they are both about the same application, the title of the other post would not alert people to the unavailability of the app. Those who are likely to know what happened or are willing to verify the unavailability probably would not be matched up with catz, the person who is seeking the answer, through the other thread.

Of course, it is foreseeable that some people will respond in the general spirit of "Who cares! Go get MemoryForLemmings! It does the same thing!" But the unresponsiveness of their replies does not change the purpose of this thread, and the fact that the purpose served by this thread is of a different nature than that served by the other thread.

Just my 2 cents
