    Default Marketplace Security

    OK So heres a ponderosa.
I know we will appreciate open source (amen) and the marketplace will be an everyday pit stop for most (me me me), but Im highly skeptical about no one moderating what gets put up on the marketplace. Now I know Apple is going to an extreme with thier model, but isnt T-Mobile/Android Community also going to an extreme here? Im some jackass decided to post spyware/virus on the marketplace what happens? There must me some kind of safeguard in place. I suggest the developers become the moderators.
As a developer I know one thing i hate is when bad code makes it out into the wild and some poor sap suffer because some jackass wanted to test his skills.

Maybe I missed something and theres already something in place but I havent heard of any safeguards yet, and I really think it could do more harm than good to be "too" open.

I was wondering the same thing, but I think the apps do need to be approved before being added to the market, Right?

I don't know exactly where I read it, but its around here somewhere. Basically when they say that the marketplace is open for all applications, it is- except the applications can't have any harmful malware virus stuff on it. I don't think they will block apps based on type or content, they're going to make sure that all apps run flawlessly and not harming to the phone.

Also, because it is an android platform, not many viruses or anything really affects it unlike windows.

I hope this is true because I'm trusting the developers to advance the mobile phone and not destroy it.

Yeah, I'm sure they'll still scan them and "approve" or "disapprove" them before they go on but only based on security. I belive they won't make their approval or disapproval decision based on what the app is supposed to do or whether or not they think it would be popular. I think they're only going to disapprove apps that are dangerous or faulty.

Whether or not an app is popular or is liked by the end user is going to be decided by the end user. Only the most useful or fun apps will get good ratings. Anything that sucks will just never be downloaded.

The marketplacde isn't just going to be a big open folder into which hackers can just dump anything they want and nobody is going to take it out. There's still a submission process.

The apps will be rated by stars i thought, so its only logical to download well-rated apps is it not?

Ok this is how I assumed it would be. Developer posts the content and then it is quasi approved for distribution. I know its a simple question with an obvious answer, but I couldnt find anything answering the question. In all honesty I didnt reallly look to hard either lol.
Ok so cool beans, now.... next ponderosa.... WHO are the moderators? AND..... WHEN WILL I GET MY PRECIOUSSSSSS!?!?!?!?!

im pretty sure the market wont be ran by developers... it will be ran by google/t-mobile.... and im sure the apps will be tested before they get put in the market.
