Default Market search driving me crazy

    1. I hear about an app called Anycut. I get on my new Hero and search the market for "anycut".

    2. The response is "2 results for 'anycut'" but it doesn't display any. It displays the suggestion list for when there are no results.

    3. I change my query to "shortcut". Response is "51 results for 'shortcut'" but still doesn't display anything.

    4. Decide this is ridiculous. Kill market app with TasKiller. Relaunch. Search for "shortcut". Results display! Anycut is not in them. No apparent way to sort by name to be 100% sure I'm not just missing it. Can't actually tell what it is sorting by.

    5. Change query to "shortcuts" (plural). Can't find a way to alter my previous search - seem only to be able to re-use it - so I just retype the whole word. 53 results, which display. Anycut is in the list! Realize it is called Any Cut.

    6. Search for "cut", assuming that is what would have worked in the first place. 63 results. Any Cut is not one of them!!??

    7. Search for "any" out of morbid curiosity. 828 results. With no way to sort I have no hope of finding Any Cut whether it's there or not, but I gamely scroll down a bit. After a few pages I notice I am seeing the same apps over again... Droid411...MyKey...Lucky Lotto Shaker... yep. They are showing up just a few pages down from where they first appeared as I scrolled. What is up with this app?

    8. Morbid curiosity prevails again. I search for "Cut", with a capital "C" you see. Any Cut appears! The market search is CASE FREAKING SENSITIVE!!!!???

    9. Search for "anycut" again, all lower case, just to see if it will still say 2 results but show me none of them since I haven't run into that problem for a few queries. 2 results. BetterCut and Any Cut appear. I give up trying to understand. I install Any Cut.

What, um, is up with this marketplace?

Mine works just fine on the G1 but can't imagine it would be any different than yours. Have you tried clearing the market cache?

I just searched for anycut (lower case) and of the 2 results, Any Cut was one of them. Not sure what's going on with your market.

One think I have noticed with searches is that I will get a message saying that there are 2 matches, but nothing shown. If I press back and do the same search again, then they show up no problem.

The market has been acting a little odd since Donut tbh. I often get a notification saying there are app updates, only to find nothing shown in the market. Or the reverse is true, with updates showing in the market but no notification.

    You're not alone!!
