Default Maps to Cache/SD?

Hi all,
I've been haunting the forums since day one, but I don't recall there ever being map program that enables offline use.

Has this been developed yet?

Thanks!

I've seen a couple of people that were working on one. never saw a finished product however.

i also read the other day, where somebody was considering messing around with the nyc subway map app and seeing if they could replace that map with others.

sorry i can't remember what thread that was in or any other info beyond that.

There is an app called BigPlanet which supposedly lets you use maps offline. The only reason I say supposedly is because I've never used.

You're correct. The links are:
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.nevilon2.bigplanet
for the full paid version

and
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.nevilon3.bigplanet
for the free demo version.

I've used it a little, and it does what it says it will do. However, YMMV!

AndNav2 will do it. There is even a nice new tool someone provided to help build the maptile pack from Open Street Maps.

You can preload user defined map tile packs to be used. You can even preload a route or routes if you are going to be out of network coverage.

See www.andnav.org for details.

Their dedicated US server is literally days away from "on". They've had all sorts of hardware failures.....bad PSU, bad mainboard. Taken about three weeks to get all that sorted out.

But latest status is that they have the full routing and map database loaded for the US and are just about ready to rock.
