What Polygonous does, simply, is put a number of colored shapes on your screen and send them bouncing around, changing shape and color, and leaving trails behind them as they go. Now what kind of shape, how many trails, what color, etc, is entirely up to you. The difference between the free and paid versions is the settings they offer. Here's a chart:
