Does that mean that one could hypothetically install all the same paid apps if they own more than one Android device.

That is, if i own lets say 3 android phones and i buy an app, can i install it on all three phones with the same google account?

Wouldn't that be the same as stealing from the dev?

why would it be? i am using it on the same user name! just a different device. i would understand if i were to give it to someone else but not for the same user name.

Well, I can tell you that I thought that my old G1 was toast and bought a new one. I was able to install my apps on the new phone. The old one dried out and came back to life, so I wiped the new phone, returned it and still had the apps on my old phone.

yeah your paid apps are linked to your gmail so you if you buy another phone you will be able to download them as long as your using the same gmail account

That's like when you buy Windows, it's only licensed for 1 machine, unless you buy a multiple license. Yes you can do it but that doesn't make it legal, moral or ethical.

I agree with upgrading but not putting it on all 3 or 4 of your phones on his family plan, which the op wants to do.

i think it was just a hypothetical question, i dont think he would want his family receiving the same emails, same contacts, same checkout accounts
