Does anyone know if a Google Docs app is in development? Who is developing it? When can we expect it (i.e. beta by January 09; 2nd quarter 09)?
One of THE main reasons i went with a G1 is (expected, now prospective) integration with Google Docs
G1 is so good. Parallel Apps open is so much better than iPhone singular model.
I too am really looking forward for docs to show up on Android. Hopefully its sooner than later, but you never know. Heck I would even settle for a web based editor.

I read an article about a month ago where google developers talked about the possibility of integrating Google Docs with the android platform. I can't recall where I read it (and can't look it up right now) but basically they said they were looking for the best integration methods. They talked about how spreadsheets are meant to be used/enjoyed in a desktop with a large screen and it's hard to find the best way to make it usable in such a small phone screen.
Anyways, I'm sure they are looking into it but don't know how much of the same desktop functionality they can transfer to android.

At least this offers a "clue" that its being looked into. Thanks.
I also read that OpenOffice at this time is not considering an android app, which is unfortunate since ability to save to Docs from this using gears would probably be simple enough. It would introduce more users to OpenOffice on the desktop client-end.
