installed this last night. pretty sweet. (working on windows 7 too!)
love the gmote touch feature.
this makes me sound completely lazy (and it's probably true) but now i can lay on the couch, watch tv, have the laptop on the coffee table and not get up to surf the web.
tivo remote in one hand, gmote touch in the other rofl
this is a great great app to have.
1.) when your phone is open, you can use the screen for a mouse pad (one tap to click, long hold to right click), the trackball as your page up/page down, and your keyboard as, well, your keyboard. a wireless suite from your g1. Just like omnibot says - browse your computer from anywhere, just sit back.
2.) using the gmote software on your computer, you can choose a path on your harddrive where your music is located. From your phone, you can then choose songs, play them, pause them, skip ahead, control volume on your computer, or mute it - all from your g1.
This means if you have your computer set up to a "house-wide" surround sound system, or if you just have a nice speaker system hooked up to your computer - that you can walk around ANYWHERE in your wi-fi network range, and change songs and play songs on your computer.
I have a blast changing songs from my couch or playing DJ from the kitchen or game room without having to move from my chair.
There are other features, but these features, along with the $0.00 price tag, should be enough enticement for you to go to the android market and download it.
I'm just pretty impressed with this functionality - it's great and it's very useful.
When I launch the application on my vista ultimate, I get an error saying : “unable to connect to the multicast socket. Is the computer connect to a network? Exiting.”
When I launch it in debug mode, I get: Could not find the main class: org.gmote.server.GmoteServerUiWindows. Program w
ill exit.
Any idea?suggestions?
Regards
just got this downloaded onto my hero/ubuntu pc.
It is pretty much what I was after for ages, a way to stream my music to anywhere in the house without having another pc cluttering up the kitchen etc.
When I streamed a movie onto my phone I was pretty amazed, the the mouse pointer too....
Awesome

I have windows 7 and i'm having problems getting gmote to work! the server works fine, and the app works fine, but when i try to connect it always says "connection problem." Ive turned off firewalls and such and still the same problem, even after a reboot of both devices
Does it say connection prob. on the phone or your pc? Has it ever worked correctly for you on this pc? I would just uninstall and install over again on phone and the pc.
BTW Gmote has a donate version out. Not just the same app either. It seems more responsive, plus a new icon to bring up the soft keyboard. Not a huge change when you can just hold the menu button, but they deserve it. Such a great app when your pc is connected to a big HD screen.

Take the plunge... 9.10 is the best time to start. I suggest you get on the ubuntu forums and check out the newbie section. That should help you out with most of your first issues/questions etc... If you got any questions just ask.
BTW Gmote completes me. Makes my HTPC amazing. Plus its fun to scare roommates with. Like blaring music when you arnt even in the house.

Howdy...
Just installed GMOTE on my DIY mediapc and my X10... I would say "i love it!" but i got few prob's...
Some backside information.
The MediaPC is connected to my old 32" CRT tv by Component, on the VGA-output there's this VGA-S-video converter that aint connected to anywhere. The only reason those 2 are hooked up on same time, is that it made it possible to use extended desktop.
I Control the MediaPC from my another laptop, using VNC. Thats why i wanted the extended desktop, gotted 800x600 to the TV and 1200x900 for desktop -> Easyer to control it from my laptop.
Now, the problem is, that the 1200x900 is the primary display, that aint actualy hooked on to any display device, and the GMOTE shoots the picture on it... And no matter how i try, i cant change it to put the picture on the secondary display (tv)... There aint anything to drag around, since it full sized...
Any helps ?
EDIT: gotted it, but now it loses subs when rewinding / fastworwarding
EDIT2: sry, the subs work first 5sec, after that theyr lost...![]()
