Default Early Android user looking to come back - need App info

    Hello,

I owned a G1 back when it first launched here in the UK. The awful battery life and the poor user experience put me off and I went back to a Nokia feature phone, eventually jumping to Blackberry and then getting an iPhone last year. Looking to come back to Android for my next phone (I'm thinking either the upcoming Galaxy Note or hopefully the probably not too far off Galaxy S3).

I've become accustomed to using some apps on my iPhone which I want to make sure I can get on Android:

National Rail - live train times app (including delay and platform number information)
AIM - the iPhone app is rather crap, Blackberry one is really good...hoping for a decent one on Android
Sky+ app for remote programme recording
    Kindle
    Natwest - banking app

That's it really, hope it's not too much to ask. I'm also hoping (because you couldn't do this early on with Android) that you can group text without the need of an app or manually choosing each person one by one. I just want to be able to create a group in my contacts book and then select the group name when I want to text this group. You STILL can't do this on an iPhone, I had to get an app for it.

    Thanks.

Had to do some investigating, but here's what I found.
Your National Rail = Train Tickets
AIM = Well here there are several options really, if your looking for the official app then AIM, personally, I used the all around app ebuddy, but I was on icq, AIM and yahoo. Now I'm pretty much only google+ w/the occasional facebook.
    Sky+ = Sky Remote Recording
Kindle has it's own official app [this one I'm quite familiar with! I use it and love it!]
    And finally,
Natwest= Bank Control UK. This app appears to actually support several UK banks, but Natwest is included among the list.

Besides the Kindle and ebuddy, I can't speak from experience as to the quality of these apps, living in Oklahoma kind of puts a hamper on the usefulness of UK specific apps. I did include links directly to the market though so you can read the reviews though.
    Cheers.

Thanks for the response, looks like it should be alright to return to Android (nice to shake things up every now and again!). I even found the official Sky recording app.

Now I just have to wait for the Galaxy Note release / info on S3 on the Nexus Prime or whatever it's called!
