Default Drizzy Hero Mail work for gmail?

Im not a big fan of gmail's default email app for the Hero OS. I was wandering if the default HTC email client will work with gmail? I have set everything up manually to gmails recommended settings on the phone and my email account and it still says i have no mail. Can anyone shine somee light on the situation? thanks =D!

ive tried every linux swap from 32mb to 96mb. 40mb is the fastest and wont slow down on u over time. TRY IT!

gimme a sec ill search for it again.

if this helps: all i had too do was follow these instructions https://mail.google.com/support/bin/...?answer=114408

and allow POP and IMAP on my gmail account, just go in settings and youll find it.

also another thing i had to do on g1 was set MAIL SIZE LIMIT:ALL for emails in hero mail app, and set DOWNLOAD OPTIONS By Days: ALL. That let me download all my emails and the ones i have chillen in my inbox that have been there for a while. If i find link again ill post but thats summary of it =D
