i was wondering if anyone knew of any free apps that i could use to change the home screen, im looking for something like this

or something that will make me be able to customize the home screen, and i was looking for a legit app for messaging to be in bubbles like the iphone, chompsms sucks so please help

The screenshot is from an app called open home. It's on the market, but costs a few bucks. There is nothing free that will do the cube rotation. As for the second question, get handcent, its a free app, does just what you want.

I think GDE home replacement will give you the cube effect. I never tried it, but I hear its pretty good.
