I must be missing something really obvious here ...
In the G1 web browser I can copy and paste links as well as text in input fields but I can't find a way to highlight and copy text that is NOT in an input field.
Can anyone advise me how to do this?
I would also very much like to know if this is possible. When I heard "Android has cut and paste!" I thought "cool, I'll be able to select text where ever it may be, copy it and paste it elsewhere.
I have the same issues with the Gmail app, say, copying a fedex tracking number from an e-mail, then pasting it on fedex's tracking page in the browser.
Is this possible?
You only have the ability to copy/paste from text fields in which you can type. Don't expect to be able to highlight a passage of text from a web site and copy/paste it into an e-mail. That's just not happening at the moment.

So when IS it happening. I think that the Google app design missed a major intention of someone with a mutli-media cellphone/pda. The idea is to communicate quickly, anything and everything.
I learned recently how to do this (with Nexus One at least):
In the browser hit, Settings Button --> More --> Select Text. Then use the scroll ball to move a cursor, click to begin highlight, move cursor and click again to end highlight. Voila.
Unfortunately there is still no way to my knowledge of doing this from the GMail app. Do copy text from email, you'll have to access GMail through the browser.
Please Google, add a Select Text function to GMail!
you can select text in a web page.. just long press a particular word and two tags appear which allow u to select the particular sequence of words or lines. and when u press somewhere outside it, that selected text will be copied to ur clipboard..
