Is there anyway to clear the market cache without doing a hard reset?

As it stands no. This is a Quote from one of the Google staff in a similar discussion on the Google Android Forum.
"Thanks for bringing up this discussion. Sadly, there isn't currently a way to manually clear the cache from the Market app. We're looking to add this into the next client update. As it stands, this cache will be freed when your device gets low on disk space - so you when you need it most you will get it back. But this isn't a good experience so we're trying to fix it soon." Should be sorted next Update whenever that may be ! |

A workaround...when you start getting the low memory alerts....and your market app is large, install a few large apps and wait. The market app should clear its cache

Yeah, and open a few browser windows, etc. You get the idea.
