I’m eager to join the rest of you when the G1s hit the stores. This will be a big leap into the future for me, as I’ll be upgrading from a Nokia 6200.Since the first mention of a phone by Google, I’ve been holding back on extending my contract with ATT. In preparation for the upgrade and the shock that will come with it, I would appreciate if someone could answer few of my questions below.
1. When we purchase an app, do we download a file and save it on our device or does it install itself with no back up copy?
2. Once we acquire an app, will we be able to install on more than one device?
3. How about transferring the apps to a new device when time comes to replace existing phone?
4. Can we expect to see pirated versions of Android apps?

I'd imagine that the Marketplace will tie in some how with your Gmail account. I'm assuming that the marketplace will be using Google Checkout to manage your payment information. Google Checkout keeps track of your purchases.
If you ever change to another Andorid phone, simply log in with your gmail account and the marketplace will recognize which apps you already own. Keep in mind this is simply my speculation on how it will work.
I'm sure there will be pirated apps that you could pick up from a torrent site or something, but gettign your apps there will only hinder future app development. most developers are individuals or a small group. If you steal from them they go broke and stop developing new apps.
