Default Any good photo viewing apps?

While the photo viewer app that comes with the Android is alright, it is lacking in several areas.

All of my photos aren't landscape or portrait, they're a mix. Having to hit menu, change orientation when a landscape photo comes up, then having to tap menu and switch orientations again, when an image in portrait comes up is a real pain!

Why doesn't it automatically use the accelerometer to allow users to simply turn their G1 horizontally, or vertically, and make the switch for us? How about allowing users to create albums from photos stored on their memory cards?

Does anyone know of any photo viewing app which will accommodate these feature?

Also, for that matter, how about allowing us to simply swipe right or left to move to the next photo, instead of having to tap to bring up the arrows?

You'd think, with all of the tip calculators and fart apps, that SOMEONE would make a simple, more elegant photo program!

(I have Pictorial, which allows you to view photos online in your Picassa albums, has a VERY nice interface and even auto rotates, BUT... it doesn't enlarge the photos when switching from portrait to landscape! What the heck is THAT about? Why rotate if you're going to keep the image the exact same size and not utilize the entire screen real estate??? The program doesn't enlarge the photos to full screen size, it keeps them postage stamp size... thanks for nothing!)

Anyone use anything that might be better then the built in app?

    Thanks!

Yeah, the accelerometer doesn't really work for a whole lot of factory apps, it's a shame because it is really responsive, as an accelerometer.

    Thanks Johnny
I downloaded Photoslide, and it is MUCH better then the built in app.

Wish it would autorotate. Also, while browsing through my photos, I deleted several, and the app crashed... hopefully, that's not a usual occurance.

Overall, very nice app, certainly worth the buck! (er, pound?) Just hope the implement auto rotate, which they say they'll be doing.

    Thanks for the tip!

Anyone know if Photoslide will auto-rotate with JF 1.41 RC33 and DroidSans installed?

Yes, mine does. It has the unfortunate habit of reloading the picture when it rotates, but at least it does.

Photoslide is better but I'm looking for something better.
Something that will help me manage my photos and my music files.
Like in the PC world that I can see a slideshow with my music files.
Then I can download my albums to the G1 and use my phone as advanced mobile photo viewer.
Still waiting and willing to pay for it.

Just got "gallery glider" it's a pretty nice app, better than photoslide now! Too bad he's behind on his programming. Check it out! The "image selector" tool is pretty neat! choose what pictures show up in your gallery..

Another good one is "Picture Viewer". Swipe to change pics and smooth auto rotate.

If you are looking for a directory viewer that shows photos from your folders , then try Quickpic. It's free in market .
I have used most of the apps for photoviewer , i have found nothing perfect like this..

Before this , i have been using just pictures , but when i filled up my sd with more then 1500 pics and most of them are hi-res , just pictures started force close.

I just found this app - " Quick pic " today. N m amazed that it is perfect n it has all what you need
    Just try it.
    It has features -
    Folderwise album
    Thumbnail cache for quick performance
Exclude or hide folders that you dont want to see [Rare n required]
    Slideshow
AutoBrightness to max control on full screen mode
Set wallpaper. [It will add option in menu/wallpaper/set wallpaper - along with live wallpaper]
    Pinch zoom - 2 levels
    Show hidden items
    Multi- select.
Editing options - Delete , copy or move
[Until now No force close -- for me]

    It do not include-
    Album organizer or picasa support.

Just give it a try , m sure you will like it.
