Android Marketplace Icon disappears from G1

I have a T-Mobile G1 and my marketplace icon along with all of my downloaded apps disappeared from my phone. One morning I grabbed my phone to find that it had powered off in the middle of the night. After plugging my phone back in and restarting it I found that all of my downloaded apps including the marketplace icon had dissapeared. Without the marketplace icon my phone lost a lot of appeal because I can't download apps anymore. I did pull the battery from my phone in hopes that a reboot would solve my problem. Anybody out there have a solution???

do you have a data plan? if all else fails, you can wipe the data on your phone. you can still activate without a data plan, but that's kinda tricky. since you already lost your apps and stuff, and gmail syncs contacts, you really aren't losing much of anything if you wipe your phone data.
