Default Android Market different in UK to US

Don't know if anyone has noticed this yet, but the Market is not universal, it appears to be region specific.

Case in Point. The Vote 2008 App is not available in the UK. Obviously its your election and we shouldn't have anything to do with it but it was what caught my eye and raised the point.
Also this morning I downloaded an app that shows the status of the lines on Londons Tube network. No use to Americans (except maybe tourists) so I assume its not available over there (if someone wants to check search for iTubeStatus).

This is a slight cause for concern because who decides what App goes where? Is it posible that you guys might get a killer App that we wont get access too? Also it raises the question of pricing, Are the stores different so that we Brits can be ripped off (AGAIN) with higher prices.

Thanks, so that just makes the late of the Vote2008 app over here more puzzling.

Well just as you stated, iTube would be useful for tourists, but Vote2008 has no bearing outside of the US

    LOL

I know you mean the App, but that sentence just made me laugh.

I'm just concerened about the wider issues as I said in the OP, who decides if we get an App or not?

I may be wrong, but I think the developer has the option to choose what regions their own app serves.

Darell, thank you for posting this Topic.

I'm UK Android user and i've noticed this from the first day i purchased the G1, i was so much looking forward to use Skype or iSkoot app, but unfortunately i couldnt find it in the UK ANDROID MARKET.

Can you find the iSkoot in the UK Market ?

This is really bad, i thought it's universal so Android users are enjoying and sharing the same app. please add me to your gmail bisharaihab@gmail.com.

    Cheers,

    Carlos

Carlosbish, what I can tell you is that iscoot was pretty pointless and not a proper Skype App at all as it used phone minutes (rather than the data connection) for calls. I'm sure that in time a proper skype App will be avaialable.

If you want UK related info the best place to get it is the UK Androids social group as we tend to find UK only posts get a bit lost amongst all the other things posted here.

Developers can specify which region to deploy their applications.
