The app is killed off after you open 7, or 6, additional programs. The dev can make it stay active, just hasn't done it yet, or thought of doing it yet.
Ring Control is a cool app that turns off the G1's ringer automatically if the phone is in certain physical orientations. The problem is that it only seems to work for a certain period of time before I have to go restart it. Is Android killing off the background app after a certain amount of time? Is there something the app developer can do to prevent this from happening?

I don't have this problem. I love the app - use it all the time... And, at least as far as I can tell, it works until I tell it to stop.
But then again, maybe I just haven't paid close enough attention.
I just wish they'd calibrate it better. I hate when it thinks it's on its back when it's in my holster.
Every day I'm forced to battle attention deficit disor...oh look, a squirrel!
i agree, it does need to be calibated better.
