    Default android games any good?

im going to be getting a new phone soon, and have been waiting for awhile.

im pretty close to getting an iphone, but i'm really interested in android...thats the main reason why i dont have an iphone right now.

one thing that i do like about the iphone is the games.

i know android is still pretty new but, how are apps so far? how about the games? large selection? do the android games look as good as the iphone games?

my main uses for the phone would be calls, text, watching videos, and playing games here and there.

If you like lemmings try "Mechanics Touch" - one of the best games I've played on my g1
Also if you're a fan of breakout try "Meteor" - I have this game back when I used my palms, glad they ported it over the android platform
    "Jewellust" if you like bejeweled
    Hopping! is also nice
Labryinth Lite = probably the best freeware game for android
    also try "Biolines" its addicting

I only have Labyrinth Lite and Doom at the moment. Labyrinth Lite is exactly the same as the version I have on my iPod Touch. Doom is more of a gimmick than a playable game (compared to Wolfenstein 3D on the Apple devices... Apparently ID is releasing Doom soon too, so I'll be able to tell the difference then :P).

One thing I do know is the iTunes store has a bigger range of games than the Android one. If it was gaming I was primarily concerned with on the phone I might have got the iPhone, but I use my phone for internet chat (gtalk, msn, irc etc) and the iPhones inability to run background processes makes it next to useless for that.

One thing to bear in mind, that playing games on your phone (any phone) will use the battery a lot quicker. This is another reason I still carry around my iPod and not just my Android device.

    Are Android games any good?
    No.
    Plain and simple.

Most of them are straedgy which is good and fun for a little. But if you look at the newest apps. Their hasn't been a good one in a long time.

Most of my favorite games are just ports or emulators.
    Doom is a great port.
And then their are the Nintendo and Super Nintendo.

There really hasn't been a good genuine game from the android.

I liked the I phone and I really wanted to get an ipod touch to hack it for gaming.
They have an amazing Quake port with multiplayer and it just looks amazing.

BUT any true gamer wouldn't really feel at home with a touch screen and touch controls and this is where my g1 really scored a point with me. It has a qwery keybored! The iphone jailborken has a Nintendo emulator but you just don't get the right feel from the touch controlls and then the screen is being taken up by it and all.

Look around youtube. I'm currently on my phone but someone by the name of (roughly) shinobe123 does gaming reviews for the android. BUT he does them fresh out the gates so a lot are out of date but you'll see.

I'd suggest the g1 though I don't really think its the best.
I've been using you tube a lot lately. And the way it loads doesn't always seem to be very user friendly to me. When I want to rewind it stops loading and regresses and then has to load. But I do expect a lot from my g1.

like iceberg said the games on the g1 are not great right now compared to the iphone. theres alot of emulators that run great on the phone and works great cuz of the keyboard.

thats another problem for me. if i do decide to get an android phone it will be the samsung glalaxy or the magic. so no qwerty keyboard for me.

i would rather have an actualy keyboard though, but the G1 is just not for me, and i cant find anything about other android phones with both a touchscreen and keyboard.

i was hoping the touchpro 2 would be android but i think its winmo.
