Apps shouldn't need any manual intervention. If it does, you should be down rating the app in the market and informing the developer to fix it.

The Android OS purposely leaves activities running in the background in case you go back to it -- to improve load time. If they aren't used after a certain threshold, they're killed off. Nowhere in there should it decrease battery life, and if it does it's a buggy app.

Here's an entire write up I did on it: http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f...-thread-33855/

Services/receivers are the only ones which are of any real importance for task killing. That is unless you have 100+ buggy apps on your phone, in which case you might need a task killer. As far as Android as an OS goes, they would never build in a task viewer that showed activities since that would go firmly against the design of Android. It's just unfortunate a lot of new developers (who are new to Java as well) don't understand the architecture.

As far as Froyo goes feature-wise, I expect what's already been posted. HTML5 will probably be in there because the browser is webkit-based. Flash is 50/50.

I'm just hoping they fix up the call quality issues folks have been having on both the N1/Droid. I'm sure they'll also fix up some of the textures and similar.

...I could cheat and go look at the bug tracker and see what's in there though...

I'd be happy just to get 2.0, but since I'm using a G1, I realize that we're all sucking hind teat.

    welcome stalker
from what I hear, froyo should be out near june(for the n1 at least). the only thing that I heard that will be in it 100% is a new kernal. but those with rooted n1's are mostly already using it.

honestly, i just want the damn equalizer. i will be happy with just that.

it sucked going to the gym in b ball shorts with a simcardless iphone in one pocket and the backflip in the other pocket. music sounded crappy on my old backflip.

apple once said that they are years ahead of the competition, seems like the competition surpassed them a bit. and i hope android keeps on chugging forward!

Buddy.. don't keep any hope on froyo for equalizer. why don't you try some other third party player? You may try this. I don't know if it has equalizer.
