Default "android 2.0 apps working on some custom donut (1.6) roms!"

I have not tried it but i will right now!

Remove if it violates the rules.

Google Maps 3.2 works on CM 4.1.9999
Here is an option to make a direct link-shortcut to an address from your homescreen. An icon will be created once you finish. By clicking the icon, it will go directly to Maps and generate directions within seconds depending on your connection:

    YouTube.apk version 1.5.08
    works on CM 4.1.9999
The only new function I found on the youtube app is that you can start the camcorder from the app:

    PhotoEdit.apk
it lets you select multiple pictures from your gallery to delete

    Other apps I have tried:
    Camera.apk DOES NOT WORK
    Gestures.apk confirmed not working
Photoedit.apk Installed but I cant find the fucntion...i figured it out and updated the op(simms22 )
    Mms.apk DOES NOT WORK
    Launcher.apk DOES NOT WORK

    Browser DOES NOT WORK

See the next post for instructions on pushing/installing apps!

guys this is not installed like a regular app
Use that in terminal to install the app.
Use this code if you downloaded the file above straight from your phone.
    Code:
    cp /system/app/Maps.apk /sdcard/Maps.bak
    mount -o rw,remount /system
    cp /sdcard/download/Maps.apk /system/app/Maps.apk
Use this code if you put the app in the root of the sd card
    Code:
    cp /system/app/Maps.apk /sdcard/Maps.bak
    mount -o rw,remount /system
    cp /sdcard/Maps.apk /system/app/Maps.apk
Another way to install these apps is using Astro, it might not work with all apps.
    Code:
    1. Put the .apk on you sdcard.
    2. Open up Astro.
    3. Click on the app you want to install.
    4. For Maps, press the upgrade button.
    5. For other apps press the install button.
    6. If the app does not update, try a reboot.
    Code:
    DISCLAIMER
*We are not responsible for any damage done to your phone.
*Remember always do a nandroid backup before messing with this stuff.
*Please do not try any other .apks unless confirmed in the thread. Unless you want to help out ;)
NOTE: If some apps are not updating, try a reboot, the application should be updated.

Actually, I installed like any other apk and it works fine.

    Here is what I did:

Placed Maps.apk on to sd root
    Open Astro selected apk
    Select Package Installer
    Clicked on Upgrade
    Then YES!

At your own risk of course!

And what makes this version better than the one we have? Do we need to have our phones rooted? Just a reference for people that want to download it.

I'm on mobile so I can't post screenshots but you can setup a homescreen short with direct link to maps with directions to any pre defined destination from your current location...

    From homescreen:
Add, shortcuts, destinations... and setup your destination.

It also has layers and now shows only an arrow instead of a dot and an arrow while on map view.
