rogue, is that the haykuro spl?

edit: i think i answered this one...yes.

i have the htc radio update that i did w/ jf1.5.

edit again: as i understand it, i need to re-flash 1.5 after this spl. that's gonna take a spare card or card reader.

Yes, what ever OS you currently have at the time of flashing the SPL is the one you have to reflash after you finish (in your case you have JF1.5, so after you flash the SPL, you reflash the same JF1.5 rom. Just make sure you flash the latest radio before you flash the SPL, because some guys said they bricked their phone. Haykuro said the only phones that seemed to be having this problem were the DVT, not the PVT. You can check which one you have by powering into fastboot mode (camera+power) and if you see PVT anywhere in the first line, you should be good to go.

Here's the link for the latest radio: http://code.google.com/p/sapphire-port-dream/

I follewed the instructions here and it worked perfect: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=517595

I did it the second way since I have a card reader.

Crazy, I'm going to follow your advice on the Acronis backup. My question is, when you say you can make a image of C: is that on another drive (such as a another internal or external). My main drive with the OS, is a 750gb drive. Do I need another drive just as big to do this. I have no problem buying another, Fry's Electronics has 1TB's for $87 bucks. Also when you say "bootable backup to dvd" thats similar to the XP bootable disc, correct?

when you image your c drive, it will be compressed. say your c partition is 25 gigs. but windows is only using 10 gigs. your compressed image will be around 5 or 6 gigs. maybe even smaller. you can image to a usb drive, another internal drive, a partition on your main drive or to cd\dvd. i swear by imaging my main drive. saved my %$ many times. just like nandroid.

if you're getting 0 zero after doing getprop ro.secure, you're using a fastboot capable recovery image. do you even see the alt+b option? which spl are you using?

we were all new to this at one time,so no need to call yourself braindead. unless you really are lol. are you just impatient on waiting for cupcake? or are you looking to modify your g1 and change features that are not normally allowed? believe me,if you don't know if you're rooted or not, you're not. but i'll help if you just use google once or twice. or....just ask nicely.

There's plenty of great tutorials to get you started, check out the links in CT's sig, read up on it a bit and decide if its something you really want to do. If it is, make sure you get Nandroid down, I've had to wipe my phone several times this week playing around with things, it saved me a lot of frustration.

have you used the nandroid gui yet? it seems quicker than the command prompt. just seems like it is,i'm not positive though. regardless,it's still very convenient. and easy.
