Hi All,

Here is my situation. I have a iPhone now, and I Hate it. I want a G1 bad. But I live in cleveland ohio, so the nearest one is in Detroit, michigan, almost 3 hours away. Im not going to wait 3 weeks to have one shipped, so I think im gonna go get one today.

My question is if I can get the phone without changing my plan, and just extending my contract? I have the blackberry minutes and mail (which im using on my iphone) which is Edge data, unlimited text, and 1000 anytime minutes, which is fine for me. Since I do NOT have 3G ANYWHERE in my area, I have no use for the new G1 data plans which would be $75 a month.

If they want to upgrade my plan, can't I add a line and then remove it or something? Any advice would be great guys, thanks!

Umm iPhone/ATT? extend contract on a Tmo service? You're gonna pay $400?

adding a line then removing it technically would work, but this is against any cell phone carriers policy.... they're losing money up front when they discount a phone for you, so obviously if someone notices what you did they'll probably charge you on your bill or something... t-mobile loses money that way, and i'm sure the representative that helps you who works off commission loses money... just a warning

You can just add line with T-mobile and remove it...a Blackberry line will not work.I had a curve and a dumb rep told me it would work..My You tube vids were terrible, choppy and non of my apps would work smooth. Then I called and a different rep said oh yeah you have to have the G1 plan, now everything runs smoothly and my vids look crisp like I purchased them from itunes:D

I have tmobile now. And I dont have 3G service in my area, so I dont want to use the 3G plan. It would do nothing but cost more money.
