im sure sand paper will smooth out the nicks but its going to leave a discolored area where you sanded. We used to take scratches out of cds with a buffing wheel and some rubbing compound in plastics class. that would probably work with the g1 if you happen to have access to a buffing wheel.

Thanks for the info on that, I thought it would discolor, is there any type of low grit sandpaper that would be able to just make it alittle smooth but at the same time try to prevent the discoloring (as much as possible)? I heard somebody before on the forum talk about like 2500 Grit?

the higher the grit the les it will scratch it up. I would go with a wet/dry highest grit you can find. Eventually sandpaper is almost smooth if you get a high enough grit and will take for ever to smooth it out but it should do less colateral damage.

Thanks for the info. Great help, I will check out the hardware store tomorrow. Curious does T-mo look for small nicks and small bruises on the phone when exchanging for a new unit?

Take the back battery cover off of your phone...

Scratch the inside of it with a car key..

Then try the sandpaper on the scratch to see what it does first.

My brain ftw!

one word:
Magic Eraser

maybe I went one word over, but it works like a charm. Make the white side a littttle wet, and rub the scuff mark off.

You can thank me later

no, as long as the device doesn't have major blemishes, you should be alright... scratches on the screen are a different story

don't use sandpaper unless u are going to paint the phone
