I got my G1 on friday so its been 2 days, and i havnt noticed anything wrong with it unless you count the following...
-when i slide the phone open it sags a little
-i havnt noticed any creaking since i put a case instantly after receiving it
-Battery of course ( but i dont have RC30)
-it gets warm after using it a lot
thats pretty much it, and btw i have the bronze one..so what are you going through with your G1? please say which color you have..

I have every single one of those issues, including the creak. Instead of a case I opted for an invisible skin though. Pretty disappointing but I really like the OS a lot... I think as soon as another android device is available I will ditch the G1.

Well I can't say one way or the other for the RC30 and battery life since mine came with RC30, but I agree my battery is very quick to drop.

I had to send my first one back for warranty replacement. I was lucky enough to receive a non refurb RC29 phone. I'm applying the modded RC30 as I type this.

I have no complaints about it.

personally, that defeats the purpose of having this phone. why not be on the 3g network? I keep my sync on, and my 3g on... i just turn off wifi and gps and it's not that bad. i have a travel charger that i carry with me, and a car charger ... i typically don't do anything on the phone for such extended periods of time where im going to drain my battery and not be able to re-charge it.

i have no creaking or "sagging" but it does get warm.

my biggest gripe is the backlighting on the bronze keyboard.

I leave all autosync options on, as well as gps, 3g and cell location. The only thing I generally leave off are WiFi and Bluetooth. I think the only time the GPS and cell locations are activated is when you go into the maps app, so as long as I don't live inside the app, my battery doesn't drain from the GPS (or so I assume).

I had a call come in today and couldn't talk to the person RC-30 stock (non mod). Could connect, but couldn't talk, had to reboot the phone.

Also, the home screen takes like 15 seconds to show up now. I've added some applications/etc., but it definitely seems like some substantial inefficiency in some part of the code there.

To answer the subject, yes my G1 is ok.

I have had my black G1 for 3 weeks now.

At first, yes the battery was weak.
As of now, my G1 has amazing battery life. Lasting over 24 hours with 3G on for high speed web browsing.
My G1 has no creaking noise when I open it. No dead pixel. No lag.

I'm very happy with my G1.

(My G1 came with RC28, got RC30 4 days later. Did some battery calibrations (drain/charge/drain/charge) probably why my battery life went from lasting 10 hours to 16 hours to 24+ hours...)

Damn when I hear of people with keyboard / screen / pixel / creaking / battery problems... I feel bad... for the people that spent good money on it..

I'm really glad I do not have any of those problems.

I can deal with the small saggins and if it starts creaking ill deal with it and the battery I'm used to it cuz I did have a sidekick lx..but if my phone starts to give me software problems somethings gona go down with me and tmobile.
I'm still waiting for the rc30 update I'm hopeing it fixes most of the small issues I have with the lagging

Mine 'creaks,' had to fix it with a little raised sticker to the right of the menu button between the screen and the phones angled bump or whatever...

Other than that mine seems ok.. I just reboot once or twice a day to make sure everythings working.. battery has gotten way better.. but thats a combination of me calibrating it, and me getting over the initial wonder of having a new toy.

Mine's been fine since day one. I've had it for a month now and there's no creaks, no sags and the battery gives me at least 24 hours worth of use. I've got 36 megs of free space on the phone and have never done a factory reset. I love this thing!

i love my phone but... now that my 2nd 30 day safety net is gone im worried. My screen is loose and i didnt return it because the three other g1's i've used had the same issue. Other than that i seriously love it.
Its SOOOOOOO much better than my wifes Samsung Behold.

I had the same issue as Michelle with the bronze G1. Couldn't read the keys. Exchanged it for a black one, perfect!

^you can't put apps on your sd card (yet). But you can use the search feature to find the answers to commonly asked questions.. such as that one.
