activating G1?? HELP!

i got my g1 in the mail today...im using my sim card with my blackberry data plan: 1000 Min, Ulim Text Net & Email. It wont let me set my phone up...

the rep told me I didnt need a data pan since i have one i was using for my BB


what can i do?

I just went thru the same thing as u..I had a blackberry and bb data plan before i got my G1 and if you have a bb data plan it will not work..you need to get the g1 data plan or just a unlimited data plan, but what u have now will not work

You need to call tmobile and tell them that you need the data plan for the G1. From my understanding the data plan for blackberrys are different from the other Smartphones and PDAs(dash and wing and shawdow). The G1 has its one special type of plan.

i can second this. when i got mine i was upgrading from a blackberry pearl and had the bb data plan. the rep told me that it could take up to 2 hours for the plan to switch over.

only thing with me was 4 hours later i was still at the main setup page unable to log into my google account. ended up having to go back to the store and it turned out they didn't scan in the imei number from the phone so it wasn't catching the service or something like that. as soon as they scanned it in the phone worked.

you dont think if i have my friend activate the phone with his Sim on his G1, then use my SIM from there on after will work?

Or is a fact that the internet plans are totally diff (BB and g1)
