Well, it happened. After 14 years of having a cell phone, i finally lost one. I have had a cell phone since i was 15 and this is the first one i have ever lost. Oh well, sh*t happens.

So, i call the next morning after loosing my phone. I call t-mobile, ask them to suspend my service and transfer me to asurion. They do and i set up my claim. It is 10am on tuesday. I lost my phone monday night around 1-2am. So my claim is set up and i am told an adjuster would contact me.

Fast forward to wed morning. I call as i had not heard anything. I did not have asurion's number, so i call t-mobile first. They ask me if i would like to suspend my service. What, what! I guess they forgot to do such the day before. Good thing no one ran up a huge bill on my account!

So they get me over to asurion. They tell me my claim was denied because there was a common number called after the date in which i reported my phone was lost. I state that is impossible and ask for specifics. She could not give me any and she tried to end the call. I basically had to plea to get the adjuster on the phone and continue the call. I finally get the adjuster and he informs the the same thing. I explain to him that it's impossible unless someone tried to call out other than me as i had in fact lost my phone. He acted like i was lieing and that he did not believe me. So i ask for exact details, time of call, etc. He informs me that the last call was made around 1am on 11/18 but my phone was reported with a lost date of 11/17. I informed him that i told them i lost the phone around 1am as that was the last time i remembered using it and the operator asked if that was monday night. So i agreed. It took me 15 mins to get him to understand the technicality between am and pm from one day to the next.

Then i was told that i had to open a whole new claim and that it would be 24 hours for another adjuster to call me back.

I raised hell and finally got him to go ahead and approve my claim as this was not my mistake but their's. Even though he never would admit their wrong doing and insisted i should have been more specific.

So fast forward to this morning. I get a call from my girlfriend who has the day off. She tells me my phone came in.

With no sim card!

So i call t-mobile and they want to charge me $20 bucks for it.

I raise even more hell as even if i had to pay for one and had to do it seperate, someone should have told me this alread and i should not have been left to find out on my own.

So i call my local rep that i bought the phones from. He is going to give me a free sim card.

I absolutely raped them on the survey that is given after setting up a claim. Please make sure you do this. Do not give them credit for bad service.

While i know it will most likely do no good.....

Anyhoot....

Cliff's notes - asurion absolutely sucks.

I will be calling my auto insurance carrier and seeing how much insurance through them costs. My friend has his iphone insured with state farm for like 40 somrthing bucks a year. And with no deductible.

Screw asurion.

What an interesting story. Would you care to share how you lost your phone? Do you think it was stolen, or did you just misplace it?

I went to 3 different establishments before going to a friends house. I am pretty sure it was lost at either the last place we went or at my friends house. I called all the places i was and no one has seen it. I personally searched at my friends house. He tends to be on the messy side and there is tons of stuff just laying around. So it would not surprise me if it does turn up in the long run.

However, i am in the middle of a family emergency. My uncle is on his death bed and i do not want to risk missing that call. So i went ahead and set up a claim.

They told me if it surfaces within 7 days of getting my new one i can send it back. I may just keep it as a back up.

While i take full responsibility for losing my phone, it never would have happened if i had more than just a soft case with no clip to keep it.

Again, my fault... Just annoys me as if i had only had it clipped to me it never would have happened.

Well, sorry to hear that. At least it's all working out, even if a little painful. Yikes!

I had a similar problem with my Shadow.
I dropped the phone, screen broke. I called them, sent pictures and after almost a week (!!) they tell me that the claim is not valid because the phone had prior demage (??).
Long story short, they would not replace my phone and I ended replacing it by myself.
Still I added insurance to my G1... but this time I'll give them a hard time if they start with this non-sense stuff.

I think they are very strictly because people abuse the system with false claims just to get a new phone and in the end people with legit claims suffer with that... :/

I actually just got my phone. It came in this morning. My girlfriend was home to sign for it, and brought it to me for lunch. I went down to the T-Mobile store since it did not come with a sim card.

***DON'T LET THEM TALK YOU INTO IT COSTING YOU $20 FOR A NEW SIM CARD. THEY TOLD ME THAT, I REFUSED TO PAY AND THEY GAVE IT TO ME FOR FREE.***

With no sim card you can not use their service, so they will not be able to make money on you for overages. it's that simple. I have NEVER paid for a sim card since sim cards came out. Just simply refuse to do so.

I basically got my phone within 24 hours. I also got a brand new one sealed in the box AND with the new headphone adapter, too.
