nope, someone on irc said its something to do with multiple APNs and that its fixed in RC33, so we could have to wait till RC9 to use mms.

Hi,

Sorry for resurrecting this thread so late in the year but my head is hurting!

My friend gave me a T-Mobile G1 (Uk I think). It's never been used.

I'm on the Three (3) network so got the phone unlocked so I could use my Three SIM.

I've added the APN settings as described but still can't seem to log into my google account :(

Will I ever get it working?

Hope somebody can help me with this?

Oh, if it makes any difference i'm living in the UK...

Thanks

Thanks for the settings. As someone lese said somewhere I hope you win the lottery!

I'm pleased to report they work on my Nexus One.

And interestingly there is enough signal for the Nexus One to work at my home on Three. Despite eh extra cost I was planning to change networks but decided to simply try the SIM card from my INQ1 first (which doesn't work here at all reliably) and it seems to work ok. Maybe the Nexus aerial is better! If so well done HTC / Google!

Both settings work for general browsing but neither allow https, I get a connection error saying "A secure connection could not be established"

Any help with this would be great.

Ok now working, it's a signal issue :(

Recent new owner of HTC Hero from 3 / Three. 18 month contract with the £5 data bolt-on. Have a very strange MMS problem. Have tested with two different phones.

Using these settings:

Name: 3
APN: three.co.uk
Proxy: <not set>
Port: <not set>
Username: <not set>
Password: <not set>
Server: 3 MMS
MMSC: <not set>
MMS proxy: http://mms.um.three.uk:10021/mmsc
MMS port: 8799
MMS protocol: WAP 2.0
MCC: 234
MNC: 20
APN type: default

I received a picture from phone A, but can't send pictures to it.

I can't receive pictures from phone B, but I can send pictures to it.

With phone B, the settings have not changed. On my old 3 contract (LG Viewty) I received pictures no problem.

The settings above I have seen posted all around the net with comments saying they work.

I just don't understand what the problem is. I can send and receive but this varies with different contacts.

Forgot to add, my Internet and browsing and email works absolutely fine, calls are fine too, no problem. Just weird MMS issue.

Quick update...

Didn't do anything else after posting, but, received the pictures this morning, eventually. One was over 24 hours getting through, the others about 14 hours. Weird. Must have got stuck somewhere...

Looks like I'm working all fine, if a bit delayed.

Hi Chaps,

New G1 owner, just bought one today :D

Sorry to post this here, I hope its not too off topic but I've heard lots of people having problems with registering their Google account on the phone during the first boot with a non-TMobile SIM.

Can anyone confirm that the folloiwng procedure will work please?

1. Enter unlock code?
2. Boot with 3 SIM card and enter APN settings.
3. Register my GMail account.

Furthermore, are TMobile obliged to provide me with an unlock code - I'm not a customer or anything.

Cheers - will post my successes with the APN settings if I get that far.

Hi rarawr and welcome to the AC Forums. To enter APNs you press Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names -> Menu -> New APN.

Can anyone confirm that they have web browsing, market, and MMS messages ALL working on Three (UK) using the single Three APN settings as shown in post #9?

Just a slight update on this after having to set this up myself...

The settings provided in post #9 do indeed work. As do the APNs (one for WAP and one for MMS) that came pre-loaded on my Three SIM. So I personally didn't need to change anything.

However, I couldn't get data to work when I didn't have a 3G signal. The solution was staring me right in the face. Due to Three having a national roaming agreement with Orange, if you don't have a 3G signal it starts roaming on the Orange network, and you see an R next to your signal strength meter on the notification bar.

Anyway, you have to turn on "Data roaming: Connect to data services when roaming", and it all works fine on 2G after that. For me this is in Menu -> Settings -> Wireless & network -> Mobile networks -> Data roaming. But other Android phones have different menus.

Tweakker has just launched an Android App to help users with their internet APN settings. By downloading the application 'All Operator APNs | Beta' the user will be able to set up their internet settings in 3 easy steps.. You should check it out at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.tweakker&feature=search_result and you can read more on Tweakker
