Hey guys,

Sorry if this has been posted already - I did a search for PUK and had no luck. The other day, I entered my pin number wrong three times for my sim card. I got a message on screen saying that the sim card is locked, call operator customer services. I called T-Mobile and the rep on the other end gave me my PUK code. Whilst I was still on the line to him, I tried to find an option on the phone to enter this code so I could unlock my sim card...but there isn't an option. Only an emergency dial option. The guy told me to go to the emergency dial option and to try and enter it there...no luck, you can only dial the emergency number. We spent about 20 mins trying...couldn't get it to work. He told me that someone else he'd dealt with had experienced the same problem. Surely Google should have thought about something like this...?

Anyway, I had to borrow a colleague's phone for a second, put my sim in and use the code to unlock it. Put it back in the G1 and everything was fine.

Anyone else come across this problem...know of a workaround without having to use a different phone to unlock the sim card?

Call 611, they'll give you your PUK... and hey, write it down incase you lock up your phone again.

Each device has a unique PUK that u can use when the sim is locked!

Good luck!

Thanks...but did you read my post? I did call, and I got my PUK code. It was just not possible to enter it in the G1. Not at all. I had to use a different phone to enter it.

Yeah, I had the same problem. I had to use my old t-mobile hone to enter the PUK so I could then use the SIM in the G1.

We went through a load of options...I think the T-mobile adviser was reading through sidekick and other HTC instructions. He was helpful, but unfortunately nothing worked.

Very frustrating!

If you goto emergency call, there will be a forget password option and you will have to enter your Gmail username and password and it will let you reset it.

Okay, here's how it worked for me (T-Mobile G1 in UK).

Get your PUK code from your provider.

Get the screen where you are told the PUK needs to be entered and using the keyboard type:

**05*<PUK Code>*<enter a new pin>*<confirm the new pin>#

That will simultaneously unlock the phone and set up the PIN code.

Of course - why didn't I try **05* before I wasted time searching for an answer?!

I can only imagine why they didn't provide a prompt for the PUK on that screen. Telecom operators
