View Full Version : Frustrated with your G1? Here's the solution

Put it up for sale in the aBay for a fair price, and let someone else who wants a G1 buy it.
Since many people come on whining about something or other and blaming Google/HTC/forumers, etc about something or other, just sell it and put that money into buying a phone you really like and spread the grief in someone else's forum
There, such an easy fix, and chances are you'd be over with the 'crappiness' of the g1 within a week, as opposed to waiting for 3rd party developers to improve the quality of their apps, come up with some app that you want, etc :)

Either that, or the forum mods could come up with voting buttons for posts or authors. Past a preset number of negative ratings against a post/author would just suppress the post altogether, or ban the user from posting for a week. That would certainly encourage people to be more constructive rather than simply ranting about non-existent functionality

I agree, the g1 is the first of it's kind and it's only gonna get better, I have no complaints. I've had every phone just about and this is by far the best one.

Haha, I like that.
True though, if you don't like the G1 now is the time to sell it.

Sell it on eBay and get the iPhone 3G. I'm an avid PC guy but the iPhone, at the moment, is milestones ahead of Android. I'd give it some time to consider getting an Android device.

See, somehow I don't think the OP was trying to encourage this kind of response. This is just as infuriating to the locals as people who contribute nothing but negative replies.
OP, your post is equivalent to whineing about whineing. These kinds of posts don't elevate forums either.
The best way to fix the situation is to not read and not reply to the negative posts, technically this is very similar to your own advice. Don't like the posts? Don't read them. Don't like the G1? Then sell it.
The difference is, it's much easier to not read and reply to the posts than what you're encouraging, which is just another sort of flame war in the making.

Indeed. Fact is, people fail to see any humour in anything these days :)
@ Gigaflop : Your argument is valid though, but ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away. Selling the G1 that someone is not getting his expected mileage out of and getting something that 'works' for him, does, in fact, make it better for that person.

Indeed. Fact is, people like Gigaflop aren't the ones who actually contribute. They're too busy working out an argument to be self-righteous to see any humour in anything these days :)
lol, ooh that burns.

heh, just kidding.
on a more serious note, let's look at it this way. I bought a Hummer H2. Love it on the dunes, but damn, it sucks at the autodrome. Brakes get cooked too easily, I'm getting passed by Hondas with smaller engines and there's WAY too much body roll in the corners.
I could:
a. Go to the Hummer forum and bitch all day about how badly the Hummer really sucks as a track car
b. Sell the Hummer and get a Caterham, since my 'needs' are biased towards track duty.
That said, I might just come back with a Caterham, and complain about it being crap on the dunes :D :D
Just no winning if I can't figure out what I really want, right? ;)
Or better still, I should get a Caterham AND a Hummer, and then complain that the Caterham's just not comfortable for daily use, and the Hummer's fuel consumption is horrible
*grin*
