Hi all,
I finally got my G1 last week :) I'm really happy with it so far. I'm living in Switzerland and have a contract that includes 250 MB/month. That's not much so I would like to know a few things about network activity, especially while the phone is on standby.
Are inactive applications able to use the network while the phone is on standby? I guess that they do but I would like a confirmation.
I noticed that most of the time when I unlock my phone, the EDGE/3G icon shows that traffic is flowing. Are network activities queued while in standby mode and fired when you active your phone?
Does the GSM localization system need to access the network to determine your location? Or is the location information transmitted by the GSM antenna?
Is there an application that show you how much bandwidth does an application use? A kind of traffic analyzer.
