So i was thinking, its clear that soon other phones will carry the android os. So then can u take that and run it on the g1, kinda making it a non google branded android version.

that question doesn't make any sense. The G1 already runs Android, which is made by Google.

When other devices get andriod they won't have any advantage over the G1. Android is made by google so it's not andriod if google isn't apart of it.

Android is an opensource OS (wiki open source) that was developed by, and is currently sponsored by google.

Any phone to run android will likely always be this way unless say a company like yahoo where to re brand it as a yahoo-centric version. To clarify what open source means, yas, anyone may take android and develop out of or ontop of it.

What you're more likely to see is someone running android on a phone previously running windows mobile orpalmOS.
