T-mobile plan discussion?

Okay. I use 100-200 mins a month, bought the phone for mainly the data purposes. but apparently, with the G1, you cannot have the 24.99 Data plan with anything less then the 39.99 voice plan? has anyone gotten around this? I tried switching down and getting the 29.99 Voice with 19.99 Unlim Internet and 400 Texts. but it doesn't work apparently. Whenever I access the web I either get a message saying I specifically need the G1 data plan or a 502 error.... wtf... I found a plan that better fits my calling habits and I can't use it because.... G1 uses no different protocols? stupid T-mobile being greedy.

Try this. Log on to t-mobile's website and at the top right of the screen where it shows what phone you have click not my phone. Then change your phone to another one. Then give it a try. When I had my dash I did this. I put my phone as the sidekick and changed my plan to the sidekick plan. Worked wonders hahaha

When I did it for the dash, yes. Haven't tried with the G1. Kinda forgot about it untill I saw this post.

Pls correct me if I am wrong, but I dont think there is any 19.99 data plan. Except you are talking about hotspots only and plan to use wifi all the time.

Downside is, with wifi only, you cant use the market... (I have to double check). So until there is an internet alternative for the market, it's got to be either blackberry's $ 24.99, Sidekick's $24.99 or G1's $24.99 data plans.

I recently purchased my G1 and backed out of the data plan. I am using wifi only. You have to have the dataplan to log into the handset the first time, but after that, you don't really need the dataplan as long as there is wifi available. This does not help me in the car, but I am driving, and shouldn't be using the phone like that anyway.
