I'm a new G1 user and have been attempting through trial and error, along with a little bit of research to correct this issue but to no avail. Any time I try and set one of my photos as wallpaper, it auto crops and zooms in, blowing the saved wallpaper out of proportion. I've tried d/l'ing already sized wallpapers and I'm just totally lost. Can someone set me straight on this?

When the resizing screen comes up it always shrinks it down at the center of the image. Click the very edge of any side of the orange box and drag out so the while image is no longer showing gray then release and click on save. This should allow your wallpaper to fit correctly.

That's what I'm talking about, though. When I do that, I don't get the entire photo, even though it may be within the correct size limit, and it then zooms in on the photo automattically and makes it look like it's up against the screen, blowing it out of proportion.

ok. sort of figured it out. someone pointed out that due to the google nature of the phone sliding left/right to view the whole picture and centering it on the main screen. still a bit odd, but thanks Skatt
if the size of the image is not proportional to the size of the screen, it wont crop correctly. you can see a video of the image cropping process here YouTube - T-Mobile G1 Wallpapers
