Do text message notifications appear when the phone is locked?

From a lot of the posting in this forum, it seems that the POP/IMAP email notifications don't reliably appear for new emails. I'm wondering if text message notifications appear as they come in on the G1 phone when the screen is locked.

Can anyone confirm that this is the case? I want to make sure such notifications do appear and will alert me if the G1 phone screen is locked.

Yes, they do. The notification LED will blink also. If your phone is locked you will not see the notification as it does not light up your screen.

i believe there is an APP in the market place for this

it's called SMS Screen Alerts

it basically turns your phone on for a certain amount of seconds that you can change.

it;s defaulted at 9seconds..
