Don't Panic!

It's all ok now. Phone went flat during update - read on below...

Morning all.

Got up this morning to find my phone turned off. Hit the power button and it booted to the home page. Then showed a message about the OTA update. I clicked 'continue' and it rebooted and seemed to get on with updating itself.

I checked on the status a couple of times and had suitable pleasing images showing how far through and what stage i.e. unpacking data - writing image etc. But now - 2 hours later - I get a flashing red light if the power button is held down and nothing else.

Has anyone encountered this before or will I be heading over to T-Mobile?

As an aside, I've got an Openmoko and am familiar with manually flashing firmware etc and have a very good understanding of the processes involved. This, however, was the official OTA update in the UK.

Hehe, bad times indeed. I expect a manual update would in fact still be feasible (so not totally bricked) but given the OTA fail I wouldn't want to void my cover from T-Mobile :)

I've contacted them about the issue but won't be able to make it to a store till tomorrow. I'll update as and when they get back to me.

Well, turns out the battery ran flat during the update...

Taking the battery out before hooking it back up to power seemed to do the trick.

Hard to get over the insanely short battery life of these things. I guess I should be playing with it less!!

Left it on charge for now. Happy Days again though...

Build now reported as uk RC8.

My phone does the same, when the battery is dead.
Have you tried pulling the battery, reseating it and connecting the power?
