Who wants to stream movies pictures and music all free that works on edge 3g and wifi (kind of like orb, but works)!!!! Well its way too simple!! Just point your browser on ur pc to http://www.ifunpix.com/ and download the app and setup up an account, if i remember right the don't even ask for an email then add the folders where you have your videos, pics and music to the app and finaly the last thing take your g1 out of your pocket and open up the browser and in the url box type in http://mobile.ifunpix.com and log in! pretty basic and simple but man it works like a champ! Now all you g1 owners that I have seen complaining on this killer site u have something new to try out that actually works!!

LOL !.... sounds too much like an advertisement to me.
besides, Why Stream the music from your Computer ? when you can just transfer it all onto an SDHC Micro and have it all there ?:D
IMO.....Lame..

I dont see why people would wanna use up all their data allowance (if using 3g) just to Stream things from their computers ?!
Besides. Converting movies to work on the G1 isnt hard anyway, just seems like one Massive Advertisement for a Useless Streaming service !
Edit : Also Considering that you have only posted 3 Times, All of which in this thread, Fortifies my assumptions that you are just out to advertise this Dumbass Site !

last thing i forgot to say is that once logged in on your phone on the bottom of the site is says (media) click that and it will take you to all the folders that you have saved on your pc, movies pics and music! good luck and by no means is this an advertisment i just thout it would be nice to share my experience with it! I looked everywhere trying different things like tversity and orb but this is the only one that works that i could fine! anyone else have better please share.

Yawn.. Still sounds like an advertisement to me.
i wont be trying it. its a pointless tool for streaming Media that is on your computer when you can just use a memory card and have it all there without the streaming which takes up your data allowance !

I'm not denying that this *sounds* like an ad either... Not enough for me to delete the thread, but still...
But as for the "why not just convert it and have it on your G1" argument - I have crap-tons of stuff on my PC that I would never want on my G1... but you never know when you'll want to show your friends that wacky video of your dog surfboarding - and in that case, services like this are perfect.
And you could say "whynot just upload your videos to youtube and have them there?", but then again - I dont think the world wants to see my dog skateboarding (ok, maybe a bad example - who WOULDNT want to see a dog skateboarding?), but my friends may...
disclaimer: I do not have a dog, much less one that skateboards... so don't even think about PMing me to ask for the video...

Despite the astroturfing-quality of this gentleman's enthusiasm, this type of PC-to-G1 app is something I would like to have. If it works and doesn't directly connect my phone to the Russian Mafia (TM), then I will be glad for this shill of a thread.

Besides the low post count, the reason why they are suspicious of this being an ad could just be that they are not use to a well typed out post, for the most part, instead of the usual dribble that is spewed out all over every forum.
If you would have started out w/:
"Hey I found a way to access all of your upskirt photos/videos from your phone without actually storing it on your phone..."
Then it would not seem so suspiciously like an ad. And it would gather more attention then a legitimate ad would do.
It looks reputable, at least cnet says its spyware free. I mean 7000+ people can't be wrong. I might be willing to take a peek.

I want to see where it says its not free show me the link! I am using it and it is free. I do kind of see how i wrote it to look like an ad but its not. some people open thier mouths with out trying stuff, as far as i can tell this stupid little funpix website thingy works and streams my stuff perfectly. So any one just try this and post back your experience on this forum to get these jerks off my back.

Will we need to format the video into android compatible mp4 before it is streamable to my phone? I ask because I have a whole heap of wmvs and divx files on my DVR computer at home. Does this actually just connect to my home computer, or to ifunpix servers?

It converts on the fly. I have a bunch of .avi files and they stream perfectly.

Top play on the G1, do I select Play 3gp mobile version, or Download flv version? Also, does it need to be uploaded to play smoothly? I have a large collection (.5 TB) so the 40 gb won't help much.
union crane
11-14-2008, 10:33 AM
you select play .3gp mobile version and you are not uploading anything, unless you want to. So you have as much space as your computer lets you. You are just streaming the media from your computer to the phone.

OK, video isn't working for me right now. I logged in through the desktop client, and it shows that the video is being "Prepared" to show. The file I am trying to play is about 1gb, and it shows that it is 50.1mb of the way through. Does this mean that I will need to wait a couple of hours until the video is ready to play it?

Union Crane you have to realize that there are all kinds of "haters" and "know it alls" on this forum. I mean even if you were advertising this site, isn't that the purpose of this forum to keep other G1 users informed of any info or new apps that they can use.
The same thing happened to me when the hard cases first came out, I posted one of the first ones on here and I think the first 5 or 6 replies were all negative hating it, and not even a week later when more came out and somebody else posted the same case, the same people that criticized my post, were loving it, go figure.
I appreciate any kind of info that is posted in this forum. I'll check it out first and make my decision based on actual facts rather than assumptions. Then post a reply to let others make their own decision. Just because I don't like it or don't need it, doesn't mean others won't. " To Each His Own"
Thanks Union Crane

im not sure?? it plays all my vids with no problem. i just open up desktop client and click tools...folder manager...add the folder i want to stream...and press confirm. That is all that i had to do. then i just restart the desktop client and restart and do the same from my phone and whala its streaming vids. maybe a simpler way that just how i did it.

This is pretty exciting. It looks like ifunpix is re-encoding all of my videos to be played. This is good for a whole bunch of reasons. Orb re-encodes on the fly, but the computer would bog down when someone connected. This looks like it monitors the folders, then re-encodes as new files are loaded, which is really good for me. How in the world is this free? Pretty cool stuff, waiting for the first file to encode, then will report on the quality.

Orb works fine for me over 3g or edge all you need to do is set the speed at 200 kbps and its fine even with tv streams

Frito, I tried every thing with Orb and couldn't get it to work on 3g. I set it to 200 Kbps and opened up the correct ports on my router and firewall. I gave up.:(

Wow, I was totally wrong. I guess that the re-encoding is for playback over the broswer client. For playback on the phone, I think I was just in an area where I was getting 1 bar on 3g, so plaback didn't happen.
It looks to be working now, how awesome! I just have one problem. It looks like my videos that are 16:9 are being compressed to 4:3, which looks terrible.

Frito I am interested in a walk through for orb to work, I also tried everything u just mentioned and it did not work! maybe some settings that u have for ports through firewall and router. I love orb and it isn't working for me but this is, so please give us some info and settings and when I get home ill try.

Am I the only one getting a bit of weirdness from this app?
Here is what I am doing. I am trying to access a whole bunch of videos on my DVR computer at home. I have a mix of Divx, WMV, and MPEG files, all between 700mb and 3GB in size.
I log into the mobile site on mobile.ifunpix, and I click on the image next to the video I want to play.
I then click on "Play 3gp Mobile version"
1 of 3 things happen
1.) The top bar shows prox10.ifunpix.com, uploads and downloads for two seconds, then does nothing
2.) The top bar shows prox10.ifunpix.com, uploads and downloads for 10 seconds, then shows a blank screen
3.) The video successfully starts in the youtube app.
The strange thing is, if I try to play a file, it always fails to play the first couple of times. If I come back 30 minutes later, the file plays just fine.
I created a public album. You can all go test here (http://mobile.ifunpix.com/whome.aspx?fid=mrr0ng&m=wa&aid=10465781).

Yep I was having the same problems, the video just starting when ever! I wonder if its the server because now it plays everything over 3g no prob. Atleast in the last 10min. Ur files even played first time!! I am also having a prob getting the app on deskrop to recognize all my folders, and if it does recognize the folder it doesn't show all my vids. Any one getting it to recognize all the vids?

Same thing happened to me. It took at least 30 minutes then I went back to play the movie and it started playing. It did resize the the movie to 4:3 aspect, with quality loss also. The wallpapers I accessed seemed to not have as much quality loss, but there was some.
As far as Orb goes, I wish there was a step by step set-up instructions or some other help, because I still can't get it to work for me either.

Ok i think i figured out what is going on with the ifunpix...i was watching my router go crazy when i wasnt even doing anything on my phone, so i am assuming that it uploads to thier server anytime you click on a file that is why it takes a bit to be able to to watch the video...hence coming back 30min later and it all of a sudden working! I do not know if my cable company has an upload limit if so i just uploaded about 10gigs of stuff today to ifunpix!! so on a hunch i actually got orb to stream to my phone...no joke... i am going to make new thread to what ive done and how maybe we can all figure out a way to fix it. all i am saying in this thread is its not orb!!

union what is happening when you try to use orb?
edit nvm, i see you figured it out it can be tricky to get working but once you do its nice, works well but i do get exception errors from time to time but clicking on restart orb server usually fixes the problem

My DVR computer was being absolutely hammered, brought to its knees by ifunpix. My wife couldn't watch her shows, so it got uninstalled. I installed orb, and it worked perfectly. Watching iron man over edge (which is all I get in my house) was a lot better than I expected. Me using orb did not impact my wife watching her shows either. Too bad about ifunpix. Oh well.
