Is anyone else having problems with the video player apps with regard to file size? I did a test and exported a 2 minute clip from Iron Man with Quicktime "export for iPhone" setting on Mac and it played beautifully. When I converted the entire movie with the same settings, no audio or video.

I'm wondering if movies need to be under a certain file size to play. Anyone with similar problems/comments/suggestions?

What screen size setting are you using? I put a movie on mines yesterday at 380x240 and it played fine and filled 98% of the screen. Video Player plays files 480x352 or smaller.

I converted it at 480x270. I was so hoping that I would be able to watch video on this phone without having to spend hours converting re-converting and basically jumping through hoops to do so.

I haven't been able to get a single video to work smoothly on the phone yet. It might be that I have a class 2 micro sdhc card. Its frustrating though because I have an Archos 605 that can play back just about anything, and its processor and ram specs are significantly diminished compared to the G1.

What converter are you using? I use SourceTec Sothink Ipod Video Converter. A FREE one I just DL yesterday but havent used yet is Videora. Google it and DL the one for the iPhone.

It has to be your video converter. Ive been putting movies on my PSP, 3G Nano, and my Dash for a long time. Now Im putting movies on my stock memory card for my G1. Either get SourceTec Sothink Ipod Video Converter or Get Videora (which I have but havent used yet)

On a mac, I am. Just don't understand why my two minute clip works fine, but not the full-length one.

Videora is slow, try Super C.

Exactly, and it plays nice with K-Lite Codec pack, unlike Videora which is all like: CRASH!

Side question: how can one tell what "Class" a MicroSD card is? I have a 2gb one from way back in the day, and I think it's giving my G1 the lags, especially when playing video, but even music.

I've been using the xvid4psp application to convert .avi to .mp4 and it works well. I am using the iPhone/iPod Touch preset, which works fine. The videos look excellent on the G1 using Video Player

The easy way whould be check sites like newegg or other sites that sell flash cards. It may say something about the class in most cases..

If not it way be time to drop a 20 on a 4gb card..
