I know once you use a phone for a while you tend to get use to their certain format and operating system.
SO the question is, could you change phones or go back to an old phone without feeling like you're naked? lOl
i know one feature that I wouldn't live without is the notification bar.
I got hooked to that. Sliding down the little bar and checking your txts and notifications is something that i would not give up for another phone.
What about you guys?

I really can't see myself going back to my Blackberry Curve . For one, the touchscreen is really convienent. Not to mention handy dandy little apps that are nice. Just wish it wasn't so bulky, but Android and the Touchscreen really have my interest.

yeah i get what you're saying..
It's the little things that keep me hooked lOl.
You're right about the apps though..
Giving up the G1 would mean giving up
-Streetview
-Shazam (can't live without it now)
and not to mention the future apps

Knowing the OS is only going to get better is enough to keep me hanging on for more. The only way I'm changing phones is when this one gets ratty ad the G2 is ready.

Yep, and the great thing is that it's only going to get better. Very promising OS.

Thats my problem. Im so used to my SK and just waiting a bit longer to make the jump to the G1.
Yeah I know the SK isn't the G1, but man I've had it since it first came out and I think i would go into culture shock if I had something that operated a little differently.

Kizer, you will find it very different. Don't feel intimidated though lol. If you love your SK then stay to with it, until you feel it's time for a change.

Yeah i know exactly what you're talking about.
I had the SK since the 2 so that's enough time to feel at home with the SK.
but at the same time all the sidekick ever did was give us more of the same..
They overcharged us for apps, games, and ringtones... we couldn't even make custom ringtones.
When i first made the jump i got use to the OS very fast.
If you think about it the buttons are basically the same as the sidekick.
WE have a jump/hom, menu, and a back button.
I mean you would get use to it really fast. i will admit the first hour i was using it like it came from Mars. but now im use to it...
haha it's so bad that it's to the point where when i hold my friend's sidekick i start touching the screen... well every phone for that matter LMAO.

Dam a long time SK user. Wow. For me I love the touch screen and the drop down notification window. To me this phone is sooooooooooooooooo convient. Now all I have to do is get used to the keyboard (coming from a Dash) and get used to typing more with my left since the phone is bulkier on the right.
I wish you could display more info in the notification bar...like battery %, calender info, to-do tasks, etcs
I could not go back to s60 or winmo...

The G1 is definetely a step up from the SK. My son loves his SK ,says he wouldn't ever give it up,blah, blah, blah. I let him play with the G1 for a couple of minutes and off he went to the tmo store to trade it in. You might want too try a demo, it will convince you.

You guys that were previously Sidekick users should feel "Blessed" with the G1. I honestly believe that the Sidekick is a IM machine before it's actually a "phone". Call quality on that thing is horrible.

Iz do not likez downgrading back to what it used to be. Once i move from sidekick 3 to G1 phone, it's nothing by up, up and away!!!!!

Yeah i mean when it first came out it was revolutionary.
To some extent it did open a new smart phone market..
but then years later the iPhone comes out..
and Danger wants to make a better looking SK3 called the Slide, LX and the 08
I'm done with that.
Android only progresses from this point... they don't look back.
This is probably why that one guy from Danger went to do the G1 project.
Came from SE W610i - the best candy bar I owned. I still use it. Awesome battery.
The notification bar for me is one of the best stock feature of the Android.
I don't even pull the shade all the way down, more often I just hold on to it someways down to read snippets of my messages. I'm hook on this 'convenience bar'.
Now if only it displayed background/active apps and allowed for us to peek-only while in lock mode.
i wouldnt wanna gonna back to the blackberry curve it sucksz....

Dosz, the curve does not "suck".

Notification bar rocks! Touch screen is a must, every phone i get my hands on now I treat it like a touch screen! Can never leave QWERTY! Sliding display area is dope i find myself just sliding the home screen left and right all the time for no reason lol AND pulling up the apps menu too lol! Moveable icons is a must, digital dialer can't live without, using EVERY SINGLE function while on a phone call is awesome too, can't live without my G1, it will only get better and better!!

I used Sidekicks since the SK2. I wouldn't go back, but man the integrity of the hardware on the SKLX sure is tempting.

This being my first "smart" phone and "multifunction" device (because I've spent the last 6 years spitting at them) I can't see myself really turning my back on my new found love of being a hypocrite. Or -- could I...
ill never go back, only forward

i really loved my dash. with all the apps that i DL for it, it was perfect for me! all it needed was a larger, touch screen.
but dont get me wrong, I Love the G-Uno! I see some promising things for it in the near future! THE OH SO NEAR FUTURE! WE ALL HOPE!!!

The problem is, the G1 isn't equipped with a forward button, only a back one.

If i were to give up my phone for anything it would have to be a windows mobile phone with touch screen and a full keyboard. Bust out keyboard would be nice. Something like the HTC touch pro. :)
sweet platform but there's still alot of work needed. im going to winmo 6.1 for now, untill andriod cleans up a little bit

Notification bar is an absolute must now. I also probably could never own a phone without a touchscreen/physical qwerty keyboard again. Im coming from a bb pearl. The only thing i do miss about my pearl was how easy it was to get my email from just about anywhere:cool:

Back to back posts bragging on Windows Mobile. It's bad enough that I have to use Microsoft products at work, but when I'm trying to AVOID work and steal company time surfing the internet, I should be allowed to escape the stranglehold. I deserve that, dang it!

Im thinking 1st of 09' The market is going to explode... Or maybe Google and Tmo will give us a nice X-mas/New Years present and release new apps. through that time. I know(well would like to think) that the first chargeable app is going to a really nice virtual qwerty keyboard that works. I will pay good money(5-10 bucks:D) for that!
I miss the built in tethering on the Dash. *tear* Yeah I thought that was one of the best options Ive had on any phone.
I love this phone, it keeps me sane at work. I had the BB curve before this phone and the only thing I really miss is one handed typing while driving... not that I do it... ALOT! Wonder what our conversations will be like in a few months :)

As for the confort of moving to the G1 its not a matter or if its a matter of when. ;)
I have a few complaints and I'm sure everybody does. I'm just watching to see where this thing goes and so far I'm pretty amazed.
Getting used to a touch screen phone probably will be a real culture shock since well its what you look at and now your greasing it all up with your fingers. hahaha

I've got both the iPhone 3g and the G1, and to be honest, I love them both for different reasons.
The iPhone 3g has a much slicker UI and far better app support (thanks to it's huge head start)
The G1 is very much in its infancy as we know and I'm annoyed quite easily with its minor faults and software immaturity. But it has HUGE potential and that's why I'm keeping it (had it on ebay for a silly price but no biters, glad it didnt sell).
Now all we need is Google putting as much time and effort into sorting out their OS as they do producing cool apps for the iPhone.
