I have notived that ever since my phone was updated with the RC30 update my phone switches from 3G to Edge and back a lot. It used to be on 3G ALL THE TIME. It's getting very annoying and making me wonder if T-Mobile did this on purpose so the 3G towers didn't get too busy. It's BS, I'm paying for 3G and getting more Edge now.

Also, I have noticed my phone running slower, especially when checking my text messages. It takes like 5 seconds for the damn thing to load the conversation that I select. I feel like I'm using an old Tandy from 1985 now! WTF!:D

Anyone else notice these same issues I'm having?

I've noticed my G1 has been slower since the updates as well. Especially when scrolling and trying to access programs. It definitely has more "lag" to it.

I have more "lag" now, but still have constant 3G connection.

I'm on mine right now. I too notice the lag. Not as bad as described, but it is there. Aalso I noticed my text messages are not maiking it as often. Come on google. Where is the google stability?

Yep, I have that same problem too. It's getting really annoying. I think I'm going to go back to RC29.

Also a couple times I had no sound when the volumes were all the way up. Had to restart in order to fix it. That happened to me twice already.

At least you're getting Edge. Man, I just moved to a new area and am just getting GPRS. :(

get a wifi router for your house, usually when youre going to be using the internet for this phone youll probably be out in the metro area of your city, which should have 3g or at least edge capability.

Most people who live in the boonies or in the suburbs I mean your just not giong to get 3g I mean its a new technology...

...actually I think I may have some data to back up your observations...

theres a app call Xtremelabs Speedtest...

I ran this app on my RC19 install...and it takes about a minute to complete and it basically shows how fast you can upload and download with the network connection your connected to...

I was connected on 3g when I first tested the phone it gave me around 600+ kbps for download... and about 300 kbps for upload...

after I got RC30 I tested it again...

it gave me max 360+ kps and 200_ kbps...thinking something was wrong I did it again around the same thing but a tad bit more download with 400+ and 200+

what im getting at is its obvious with this update Google has set a limit on download and upload limits because when I tested them from the same spot in my house with RC19 and RC 30 , RC30s' speeds were much lower than RC19s'...this might be because the number of users increased, but I think google had something to do with it and so did tmobile...

as far as the phone speed goes, you only need to empty your text message thread and email content weekly, so it doesnt have to search around on the phone for apps and such, kinda like a computers registry, when youre installing programs and uninstalling them, I am not sure how the android works but it might have something to deal with that...I try to download apps I need and use rather than just getting an app because its FREE
