That application was one of the 50 that won the Google App Challenge, by Virachat Boondharigaputra (http://code.google.com/android/adc_gallery/app.html?id=11). They won't be handing it out for free (if they're smart)

The DYNO app won't be out for a while. = ( I hear a rumor that it is all about hte bengies baby! They are waiting for the $$. So i be on Jan 1 the market will be so busy with new uploads. There isnt going to be near enough space on my phone to install all of the cool apps coming out.

Is there a site that might list what is due to be released and projected prices?

Huh? All I want to know is how much RAM is in the thing. Car talk! *boggles*

They should make a bluetooth to obd2 interface for wireless datalogging of ecu data that works with the dyno app. They could also use the live ecu data for digital gauges and live data readouts and CEL code readings.

Do you really think that a Dyno app on a f'n phone will accurately give you your cars HP and 1/4 mile time? Are you serious? Go to a REAL dyno. Please.

This info *can* be gathered from data the accellerometer gives you. How do you think people can estimate their power from 1/4 mile trap speeds and times? This is the same thing... It won't be exact obviously but can give you a pretty good idea, I've seen the same app on iPhone and it gives decent info.

there was an accelerometer device made for this purpose quite a few years ago called g-tech, it was very close to accual track times, afaik it only used an accelerometer to gather data too

I've been waiting to try this app.

I had a similar one on my old Garmin iQue3600 (Palm OS powered) that used the built-in GPS to compute times and accelerations. But it didn't back out estimates of power or torque. Just distances, times, and speeds to give 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 1/8th, and 1/4 times.

Worked pretty good on my STi. 270awhp/300tq gives me <5 sec 0-60 and 1/4 times in the high 11's. Not bad for a stock 4-banger sedan.

Had that, and it's nowhere as close to being as accurate as the RaceLogic PerformanceBox. And I also had the APEX'i RSM and that was just based on OBD-II info which really isn't as accurate as we'd like to believe, unless you got the RSM with the built-in gyros :)

isn't racelogic's box bookoo money tho?

ghoonk
11-18-2008, 06:04 AM
true, it's not cheap, but that box got me more seconds back on trackdays than the guys who went for power upgrades but couldn't figure out how to make it all work together. plus, after spending thousands on my evo track car, i didn't see the point in saving a couple of bucks and compromise accuracy. to each, his own, i guess

11-18-2008, 06:43 AM
Pity, I'm not based in the US. Am based in the Middle East, mate.

Evos are easy cars to build, but most people prefer to throw money into it rather than paying for it to be set up right, and not enough pay attention to reliability or upgrading the software between the steering wheel and the seat :D

Billy T.
11-18-2008, 08:12 AM
Race logic is what most of the magazines are using these days to get data on cars...

Cool to see so many car guys in here.

And as useless as it might be, the dyno app will still be pretty cool to play with. No issues paying a few bucks for it either.

ghoonk
11-18-2008, 08:24 AM
Racelogic's PerformanceBox is probably one of the most underrated devices for tuning and driver improvement. Worth every penny I spent on it. Pity I sold my Evo and moved on to an old man's car - an Audi RS4:)

Just wiseco/eagle bottom end and stock head. Borg warner t3/t04e 50 trim, .55a/r turbine, a baby compared to that supra turbo lol.

Back OT, where can I find the dyno app? I tried searching for it in market with no luck, is it under a certain category? Thought I remember someone saying they went to the website via browser?

I had readings from 125 hp to 265 hp using the dyno app on my iphone. My wrx puts down 200-210 awhp (bone stock with a base stg1 rom from osecuroms.org ). I would say it is the opposite of accurate :p
