Hey all,

Maybe it's just me finding this annoying, maybe it's not and it's somewhere in the thousands of posts (which i tried to search) and did not find.

But why in the world does the SMS threading group all the messages from Me at the bottom and all the ones from the other party at the top? shouldn't it organize and THREAD it based on the last received/sent?

BUT!

this could be because all the messages from ME have the correct timestamp but the incoming messages have incorrect time stamps (about 5hrs behind).

Is there a way to change the time stamp on the incoming message?

Its; very weird!! cause on the VIEW ALL THREADS screen the last message would say i received it at 5:42pm but when check the message details it says 12:42.

anyone else have this problem? or a fix to this problem?

is there a screenshot app?

i don't have a camera so i will make a mock up on Photoshop:

See how in the threaded area JANE DOE's time stamp is 11:15am and 11:20am? but it should really be 4:15pm and 4:20pm.. but the timestamp for ME is correct at 4:18pm and 4:19pm.

But when you look at the messaging main Page it says the lsat message was at 4:20pm.. it doesn;t correspond with the threaded timestamp..

hopefully i am explaining this correctly.. i am assuming that all my incoming messages are at the top of the thread because of the 5 hour timestamp difference

Mine works fine. Is it only on this contact?

I would call 611 and tell them.

No i made this up in photoshop..

it's with every thread i have.. the timestamp shows this way...

I cannot call 611 cause i am not on Tmobile.. and T mobile won't support me and my carrier won't support me either ; <

damn.. this sucks i guess i am all alone in this matter and unless someone else has this issue i have to live with it... i even updated to the modified RC30 to see if it'll fix it.. but it didn't

probably has something to do with you being on AT&T

I am actually on Rogers in Canada..

i have m date and time set to Automatic.. ; < that would suck if the timestamp was based on being on the tmobile service

I had the same issue. (I'm with fido in canada).

go into Time & Settings and set it to manual. Put your timezone to 0 and it will work.

The reason for this is that T-mobile relies on the phone to set the timestamp correctly on txt messages.

Fido/Rogers on the other hand get adjusted automatically at the tower before the message arrives thus the phone adjusts it a second time... hence why the timestamp is way off.

Ok, can someone be more specific here? I think I am missing something..

- I cannot change the time zone when in automatic mode, so we're talking about manually changing the time

- time zone to zero equals GMT????

- Diabling automatic time and setting to GMT does alter the time but does not alter the order of texts coming in

Are you guys on R28? R29? R30?

Need some help here :)

Ok I figured this out. Problem is, the same '5hr bug' exists with the Calendar!

If i create a calendar event on my pc, it syncs up fine. If I create the event from my G1, it pushes the time of that even back 5hrs..this is really annoying!

Lol, yeah it's one or the other. Hopefully someone can come up with some sort of fix for this. I have been fiddling around with it myself also, if I find anything i'll keep you posted.

The issue is that we need to have the same time zone across the board ( computer, g1, google apps ). Since we've changed it for the stupid SMS bug, we have to change everything to match..and I really don't want to do that!

I read somewhere that this is a network issue as the time is retrieved differently in Canada than in the US..so they might have to revise Android for us. Fat chance of that happening anytime soon

This is the most annoying issue with android, period. I have long text conversations, and its very annoying scrolling up 20 lines to read what the other person said. If the times switched over, then my appointments are screwed.

This IS open source, the solution can't be that hard to fix.
