If you're anything like me your name is Steve....

Also, if you're anything like me you hate getting smudges on your cell phone screen. Screen overlay's are ok, but even those get smudges on them since their main purpose is to protect against scratches, not smudging. But I think I have finally found a way to keep the smudges off of my screen!

I started by coating my fingertips with a thin layer of Elmers glue and allowing it to dry. This should take no longer than 30 minutes and I do it in the morning after my shower. What this does is enable your screen to sense your fingers, while keeping away the natural oils that permeate from our skin.

Now I know what you're thinking... "What about when I'm talking on my phone and my face and ears leave a nasty imprint on my screen?"

Well, I've solved that little dilemma as well!

I simply wrap my entire head in Reynolds plastic wrap. This can be purchased at any super market or drug store. Be sure to poke holes where your nostrils and mouth are so as to prevent suffocating and dying.

Now my G1 stays as new as the day I found it! But what about extending the battery life? Well, I figured out a little trick with your sim card that allows you to GREATLY extend your G1's juice!

First, take your sim card out of your G1 device and place it into another, cheaper phone. Then, use this other device to make all your phone calls and emails and listen to music etc.... If you need to make use of Android for one of it's many awesome applications like "Calculator" or "Tip Calculator" or "Mortgage Calculator" or "Body Fat Calculator"... simply place your sim card BACK into the G1 and let the math begin!

Thanks, great tips! Do you recommend a particular model for the other phone? and is it okay for me to also use my G1 for the Toddler Lock?

I have found that keeping my G1 in my pocket in its G1 cozy keeps it clean, too. Keeping it connected to the charger helps the battery life. So does turning it off.

at google HQ we have been doing this since a month before release using our spec phones. I'm surprised this secret took so long to get out. This gets my G1guru seal of approval.

One other thing we did: we wanted to emulate the average user, so we came up with an idea of what to do since most of you have no money left after purchasing your G1. What we did was eat ketchup on a fork, using this method we were able to save up for a new G1 quite quickly.

I did the shrink wrap trick and I'm now unconscious. This helps with battery life because I can't use the phone now. Thanks a bunch!

The whole wrapping my head in plastic wrap bothered me some, so I took it one step further. One or two coats of this on my head................

Has really cut down on the smudges. It takes a little longer to dry, but it is soooooooooo worth it.

also, remember to save money on gas/electricity/water, which will give you more money to spend on G1 accessories - a good tip is when your undies get funky, rather than wash them, simply turn them inside out.

I have the ultimate smudge-free tip. I used some lighter fluid and some patience...i used the lighter fluid and dapped it on my left side of my head(the side i talk with) Well i lit the lighter fluid causing scarring. as we all know once scars are healed they do not have oils in the skin...so now my screen is smudge free...i am going to do my finger tips this weekend.

Just wait, I have heard from a reliable authority that a third party developer is working on this.

i found a better fix ok this is very simple, right when you get ur phone dont touch the screen now, put it in the g1 pouch and set it somewhere and NEVER touch it..

this is very effective and works 100%

now if u insist on touching this phone then never touch the screen use the trackball and buttons and when you are talking...get 4 dixie cups and connect some yarn to em now when someone calls or you are calling you place one set over the top and once over the bottom of ur phone...

now stand 2 feet away and put the top cup to ur ear and the bottom to ur mouth

this should stop any smudges from every touching your phone, cheers

Man I'm trying the elmers trick think I went wrong using a glue stick. Also should I turn on. The flashlight app while doing this? Does anyone know if the barcode scanner picks up the barcode from the g1 box? I hope it does!

Crap, I messed up the instructions and grabbed the G1 too quickly after applying the Elmers, so there is some minor smudging.

On the plus side, I found a new benefit to this method. I'll NEVER LOSE MY PHONE!!!
