I got my phone last month on .. (what was it the 21st ? )
The keyboard squeaks badly..
The slide screen wiggles around pretty badly
Its not that I did not take care of it, it came wiggling like that..
i saw some at T-Mobile store, perfectly solid and everything.
Im wondering is it too late to get a replacement?
I was gonna call them tomorrow, but I bet by tomorrow ill already have my answer on these forums :)

As long as you are returning then you can just clain warranty, we have a 1 year warranty I think so if there is anything wrong you can replace your phone. At least that's how it's been with other phones I've had from t-mobile.

Well, you have a 14 days buyers remorse period to send back the phone if you no longer wanted it. If there's something wrong with the phone (without physical damage) they'll send you out a new one. The G1 isn't a really stable device so chances are when you get your new one it will start to creak eventually. Just poor manufacturing skills on HTC behalf.

when I tried to exchange mine after the 14days, she told me because they know a lot of problems about G1 so they decided to increase it to 20 days and that day was 19th day so she said I could still do it.
and when I called on 13th day to try to exchange it I was still able to change it.
so I'm sure if I call now they're gonna work something out so I can change it.

as long as there is no physical damage (like dents, dings, cracks or other obvious end user faults) T-mobile WILL replace your phone free of charge for up to a year of your receiving it...I'm thinking of doing that myself.

no theres no physical damage on it, absolutely none, i still got factory seal on it.
Some guy posted that he sent his phone, went to store with shipping info and they gave him a phone, think its the case here too ?
i could do that ?
So is it impossible to replace my bronze G1 with a black one(b/c of keyboard lighting issues) if I have a scratch on it? I'm starting to get really annoyed of my keyboard.

you can still get a new phone if you wanna pay little bit for insurance only if you already have the insurance.
If there's something wrong with your phone, something not working properly, then you can get a new phone with an insurance.
I don't think you can get the warranty exchange if you have a physical damage.
but if the scratch is not too big I would just call and try.
I tried really hard to exchange mine for the same reason you have, but they said the design or the color of the phone is not considered as defected phone so you cannot get free shipping exchange. I had to pay 20 or something like that. so I didn't do it.
tmo was saying HTC don't see that as a problem so they can't do it. so I contacted HTC, they said everything about G1, only Tmo is responsible for all kind of customer service so they have nothing to do with it.
they both saying that's not my business whatever... so I gave up on getting free exchange.

What's this 19-day bit? When I called she counted 14 days, said," out of range for exchange", and said I could only get the replacement. I called on exactly the 20th day. What the Heck? You know I'm calling back - oh please don't get me started.

Did you get a new phone in the box or just the shell?

Was yours an upgrade or a new activation?
That 20 day period is for new activations, so it won't apply to upgrades.

it's too late for the OP to have a face-replacement althought Ninja Chuck Norris Android could re-arrange your face at anytime.

I didn't get an exchange because I didn't wanna pay for shipping. I didn't think that's fair that I have to pay for shipping AND send my phone first when others get free shipping and get a new phone first before they send theirs.
but about the 20days, when I talked, she told me because they know a lot of people are not happy about G1 and trying to exchange so much so they decided to increase 14 to 20 days. that's all I heard.
and when I called, that was 19th day so I was still available.

Did you escalate the issue when you called in? Usually you can get that waived if you complain. I agree though, you shouldn't have to pay shipping.

well, I complained enough to the supervisor but he gave me no other option at the end.
that's why I contacted HTC to try that way cuz he was telling me HTC is the one decided that way about my problem
