I Got a HTC HD2 on craigslist and it was rooted with a million applications. It also was never cleared of the main google account. I've tried going to root explorer data/system but the data folder is empty I've tried going to settings factory reset I've tried going to applications google framework and clearing data and I've tried booting in recovery mode and doing a hard reset with the volume button every time I turn the phone back on it looks like nothing happened and nothing was erased. Can someone help me.

Hi,

Pull battery then wait 10 seconds and replace.
Hold volume down and then power up the phone while holding vol down.

This will get you to hboot.
From there you can use vol down to select recovery. Press power to get into recovery. Then tell me what you see.

So a second problem is happening that I thought was fixed when I power off the phone it goes right back on if I take out the battery as soon as I put it in the phone boots up by itself so I took out the battery help the down volume and it went to the screen with red green blue and white and says PB81120 SS-B3
SPL-2.08.HSPL 8G XE
0x05
cotullaHSPL 0x50
And when I press down it does nothing I have to remove the battery

Sorry I'm new to the rooting game so I couldn't understand that guide but through hours of searching the web I found out the problem with my phone now I just need help solving it. When I try to put it in recovery mode I get the rainbow screen with the words I posted earlier, I saw videos saying I downloaded a corrupt file. Since I got the phone on craigslist I have no way of knowing what that file was. So I think I need to unroot but all the videos I see for unrooting is with the recovery mode screen is there an alternative if not do u know how to find the corrupt file and delete it? Side note I'm gunna throw a bunch of terms I heard around and tell me if this makes sense. Can I flash a new rom on to the phone, does tha wipe what I currently have off and basically reroot the phone if not sorry that was dumb.
