RC30 update prevents internet until its installed?

I got the Update now or Later box this morning and i noticed that 3G or EDGE was not showing at the top. I was getting for work and didn't think twice about it. Well 2 hours later, I have hit Install later about 5 times and just rebooted my phone. But i can not connect to anything internet related. Also, i am not getting the update now or later notification either.

Has anyone else done this?

Must be your phone, I'm getting prompted to install the new update, and my internet still works..

When did you get your phone? Have you switched your data plan with T-Mobile?

People are blaming the phone or software when they don't get connection and in the end it could be that you have not changed data plan or connection could be down in your area.

I'd call T-Mobile and make sure that the data plan is indeed attached to your account. Some people, including myself, have reported that the data plan was removed from their account. I called them up, they turned it back on, and internet was back.

Also, I think you get some 'free trial period' of the network when you buy the phone (dont quote me on that, I'm not sure), so perhaps you had the free trial running and now it's expired.

Regardless, I bet a quick call to t-mobile will solve the problem. No network connection is unlikely caused by the update

I got my phone on the 20th, i was a pre-order. I found the problem, I checked my data plan last week to make sure i had the G1 package and it was there, so i knew this wasn't the problem. But i figured i'd check it again. Well my bill was $449, they added the price of the G1 on to the bill. My bill closes on the 4th and i always end up paying the bill around the 10th of the month. This is the first time they have suspended my service. I guess it has to do with the amount that is owed.

Also not sure if this means anything to anyone. But i believe the phone downloads the update then prompts for its install, but without internet access the phone will not prompt. i rebooted the phone when the internet was down and when the phone came back up it would not prompt me to install the update. But once i made a payment on the account, i rebooted the phone and the 3G arrows started showing data moving up and down, then the update prompt came back. I guess this is a phone home feature to let them know the update was applied or not.
